She repeated her December demand, insisting the UK must follow Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Iceland and refuse “business as usual” with Israel, which she called a “genocidal apartheid state.” Israel’s entrant performed “Michelle” amid loud boos and anti-Israel chants from parts of the Vienna crowd. Sultana’s call comes as the EBU insists the contest remains strictly apolitical and after last year’s runner-up finish for Israel’s Yuval Raphael. Boy George, who performed for San Marino, hit back: “It’s pretty black and white for me – I’ve been friends with Jewish people since I was 16. I’m not going to turn on my friends over something like this.”

@bphillipsonMP I grew up in lower Shankill Belfast. Father ex soldier after War could only get part-time labouring jobs. Mother had two jobs, one working in mill and still we had no money but we never went to school without a breakfast. Who sends their kids to school without a breakfast ?
