@FixingEducation Students today learn at a faster rate, and in smaller bites (influence of Social Media). As such, a shorter school day, with more activity is a better use of their time, and the teacher’s time.

If you hear a principal say "bell-to-bell instruction" or something similar, RUN AWAY. It’s quite possibly the most detrimental concept for student learning.
Stop treating schools like factories. Increased instructional time is rarely the answer.

Studies show burnout is real. Anything in excess is bad, but many burnout victims are individuals where a joy for something ceases because of outside forces and an inability to accomplish “flow” in play.

Kids do not quit soccer because of ‘burnout’. They quit because they can no longer compete with their peers and/or they have a bad experience with a coach or multiple coaches. Thoughts?

@tombennett71 As someone who worked in Dallas ISD, the problems at Madison are much bigger than cell phones. Evidenced by the students in these videos. Madison has been an issue for a very long time. I hope the school cracks down on this.

I’ve seen 100s of schools ban phones. At first there might be some pushback. But *every* time, in a few months, almost everyone agrees how much things have improved. The environment is vastly better. I hope this school holds the line.
Searching and confiscating is unusual but not rare. Lots of ways to do this.
