You want to know why I want the #Flames to draft a forward? Their top scorer this season was Matt Coronato, with 45 points. There are teams with third liners who have more points. This team badly, BADLY needs a forward difference maker.

@miketgould I would disagree that those three have as many warts if not more than Bjorck. Even so, I would still take the defenseman over a winger.

@JTech780 I think it is really easy to be lulled into the idea that D are "safer" picks. I think Smits, Rudolph, and Verhoeff all have just as many warts as Bjorck, if not more, and I suspect Carels and Reid are both gone by 6.

@miketgould I think all of Carels, Reid, Smits, Rudolph and Verhoeff have top pairing upside. I don’t see Bjorck as a top line player in the NHL and certainly not a center. Bjorck has elite hockey IQ, but that is his only elite tool, everything else is very good to average.

@McMav @CofRedCentral I would take Smits ahead of Bjorck all day. I would take Smits, Carels, Verhoeff, Rudolph or Reid ahead of Bjorck. Bjorck is undersized, which isn’t a huge problem, except he is an average skater.

@miketgould @RyanNPike Aren’t they out of recalls? It would have to be an emergency recall and they have 6 healthy defense, so they wouldn’t qualify for that. I could be wrong though.

It's weird how the Hobey committee always seems to favour veterans with limited NHL upside.

@miketgould The thing with Wyttenbach is that he plays in the ECAC which is a far weaker conference than NCHC or the Big Ten. That’s why it’s a bit disappointing that he is going back to Quinnipiac.

When TJ Hughes was Wyttenbach's age, he had 13 goals and 36 points in 58 AJHL games

@FlamesNation I would rather see him stay another year, he still needs work to get stronger and faster, to really be able to hit the ground running at the pro level.

@JasonGregor @MurphysLaw74 Probably more important to remember that he isn’t very good and has a boat anchor for a contract, but sure let’s go with he doesn’t want to waive his NMC as the reason he won’t get traded.

In regard to Oilers trading Nurse. Important to remember he has a full NMC. His wife gave birth to their third child a few days ago. Agreeing to a trade now would cause significant upheaval to his wife and family. Totally understandable if he isn't interested right now.

Biggest joke in the NHL is the offside call that is more than 10 seconds before the goal. It should be applicable to the rush and any chance that results directly from the shot.

@Flash_33 How dare he treat his employees like people instead of numbers and assets. This team has struggled to sign and retain players. They don’t have the benefit of no tax and nice weather, so you have to make your team desirable by treating the players better than others.

Has a 10 team approval list and yet everytime I see this discussed publicly it’s as if the #Flames are treating it like a full no-move and he has to be okay with the destination first Ridiculous

If you're upset at the lack of an extension hurting the value the Flames got tonight, remember they chose to hold Andersson at last year's deadline when extensions aren't even an option. It's a nice return for a rental, but if/when Raz signs in VGK this Spring... Yikes.

@PinderReport @RyanNPike Carlo also has another year on his deal. They still got a better return for Andersson as a rental. I don’t think the offers were much better at last years deadline.
