@ILovesTheDiff The problem is Uber/Veezu etc and the like where there aren't as many restrictions compared to say "Hackney carriages". I'm guessing that licenses must be cheaper in Newport or the Vog hence why many "private hire" taxis are registered outside Cardiff.

Saturday night cab chaos: “Too many taxis. Why are so many taxis not licensed by Cardiff allowed to operate in the capital,” asks my taxi driver.

@k_neabs It’s the right to roam thing imo, farmland in the UK almost always has public access, so it feels more like open space, something to be explored, hard to explain

We're nearly there 96,353 and counting. Do your thing internet. As for that vacuous act of futility that is govt's response? The Sewage Campaign Network has asked for a right to reply, we want to be able to write to the very same people govt did shredding their nonsense response. Sign now, sign today.

@alextomo You do know this makes next to no difference? It is like 200-300 max per year off bills - it will save on ROCs (maybe) + some grid costs + some curtailment costs Its really not the slam dunk you think it is

FT - at last - reports that R Reeves will finally stop the system that allows (expensive and dirty) gas to set the price electricity - allowing renewables (cheap and clean) to influence price . Why has this taken so long?

"Do you support Israel's 'right to exist'?" It's a 'gotcha' queston and I debunk all the BS surrounding the 'right to exist' propaganda right here:

@JV_Roberts @archer_rs We want to be part of Schengen, but cannot due to the north east part of our country being occupied by colonial Britain. To join Schengen we would have to partition our own people in north east Ireland and enforce a hard border in our own country. BritGov need to be removed.

@RWTaylors Manchester and Cornwall also charge a tourism levy. Why should council tax payers of Gwynedd, Conwy or Pembs pay for tourism infrastructure. The tourists can pay for it instead and the locals can also benefit from tourism rather than just the business owners.

Welsh Labour and Plaid want to charge you to holiday in Wales!!!

🚩WALES TOURISM: A HELPING HAND OR A HOSTILE TAKEOVER? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 The Welsh Government has officially fired the starting gun on its new Mandatory Licensing Scheme. While they call it "simple registration," the industry is calling it a Trojan Horse. Deadline: Autumn 2026 From late 2026, it becomes illegal to charge for an overnight stay in Wales without being registered with the Welsh Revenue Authority. ⚠ Why This Is More Than Just "Admin": The "Tourist Tax" Foundation: This register isn't about "quality" , it's the digital infrastructure needed to slap a Visitor Levy on every stay from 2027. You’re being forced to build a system that will eventually tax you. Red Tape Overload: Between the near-impossible 182-day rule and 300% council tax premiums, this is yet another hoop for small, local businesses to jump through. The Death of the "Side Hustle": Renting out a spare room or a shepherd’s hut to pay the bills? You’re now in the government's crosshairs. For many, the paperwork and the threat of penalties will make hosting more trouble than it’s worth. Making Wales Uncompetitive: With no such tax or mandatory register in England, we are effectively telling tourists "Go to the Cotswolds or the Lakes, it's cheaper and easier there. The Reality Check Is this about "standards," or is it about squeezing a hospitality sector that is already struggling with a cost-of-living crisis and plummeting visitor numbers? By the time the Visitor Levy kicks in in 2027, how many local Welsh B&Bs will be left to collect it? Have your say: Is this the "level playing field" we were promised, or is it the final nail in the coffin for independent Welsh tourism? 👇 #SaveWelshTourism #TourismTax #WalesBusiness #ShortTermLets #WRA #CymruEconomy #RegulatoryOverload

Plaid want a bigger Senedd because it’ll cause more conflict with the British Government. Yes, public services will get worse. But it’ll also create further separation from Britain. I call them Plaid Cymru separatists for a reason. The 36 new Senedd members must be scrapped.
