@CterminiPhD @organizolife I was wondering if you’ve created a spreadsheet (or other system) to keep track of progress of your mentees? Something to help guide and focus 1:1 meetings and make sure tasks don’t fall through the cracks (for both mentee and mentor).

It brings me so much joy to unveil organizō: an online forum for sharing organizational tools & resources to support scientific operations and mentoring. Seeing @organizolife come to life is beyond anything I could have dreamed. I guess I’m a founder now! organizolife.com

Excited to share that our latest study on Methylthioadenosine Phosphorylase (MTAP) inhibition in acute kidney injury has just been published at @AJPRenal ! During my PhD and postdoc in Dr. Kumar Sharma’s lab, we discovered that inhibiting MTAP offers significant protection against experimental AKI. Our findings show reduced renal injury, decreased inflammation, and preserved pathways related to proximal tubule adaptive repair post-injury. In addition, we analyzed human single cell RNA sequencing data available from the @KPMProject, revealing that MTAP is highly expressed in kidney injury marker-positive adaptive proximal tubule cells, showing its association to key players in AKI and potential to serve as a therapeutic target for promoting kidney repair. A huge thank you to my amazing collaborators and advisors Dr. Yidong Chen, Dr. @JWNdothelium, Abhinav Vetcha (my mentee), Wei Wei Wang, Dr. Li Kang, Dr. NAGARJUNACHARY RAGI, Dr. Soumya Maity, Dr. Hamid Rabb, Dr. Brian Reeves, and Dr. Kumar Sharma (my mentor) and the entire Center for Precision Medicine for their support @UTHealthSA @UTHSAResearch! And stay tuned for Part 2 of this project, super exciting new discoveries are on the way! journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.11…

I am very proud to share the publication of our group by German Magaña-Ávila @GermanRick95 commanded by María Castañeda-Bueno @MARIACASTABU, showing the role of NRBP1 and TSC22D in WNK body formation and WNK4-NCC activation. Kudos María! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

I tried the new phở restaurant today. Surprisingly adequate! The family who owns it is so nice. When they asked if it’s California-good. I had to lie. The guy got so excited everyone at my table got a fist bump. 🍜

@Catherineoscopy Reminds me when they made mice “like giraffes” (cool study with implications about blood pressure effects on the vascular). Interesting “mammoth mice” weren’t funded by NIH…at least directly. It was a biotech company…that might have used some indirect NIH resources at UTSW.
