Devdutt Padikkal is a good player and if given the opportunity, he can turn out a really quality test match batsman. But I don't want him anywhere close to T20 team. He doesn't hit good balls over the fence. He is a very good player of bad balls, needs something on the pads or plenty of room outside off, really full or really short. I never really see him hit a perfectly pitched good length ball on middle and off over the fence. That's why, in some of the games when bowling is really tight, he gets stuck. In T20 team, you need good players of good balls, ones who can hit good length balls off the stumps.
