I've been a Christian my entire life, also baptized as a child. Grew up in a faithful Christian home to married parents as well. You're right that I'm not your shepherd. I'm not trying to be. But if you're a Christian, you ought to submit to your priest, pastor, whoever has spiritual oversight over you. This is just basic Christianity. I hope the best for you. God bless.

No, it's not. In the context of the passage, and the entire book of Hebrews, it is talking about ecclesial leaders. We are also to submit to civil leaders, but those exhortations are found elsewhere, like Romans 13.

If those are the instructions, then perhaps they did receive and the video is deceptively edited with a misleading headline. There's an edit before they get up and leave. In which case the fault is on Lifesite News and Jack Posobiec for sharing it. If those were the instructions, and they didn't receive perhaps there was some kind of miscommunication and there was nothing malicious about it. Mistakes happen. But if those were the instructions, and they were intentionally ignored for no good reason, then it is a problem and fault of the clergy. The video is intended to enrage when we don't actually know what happened.

You'll hear a lot about the Supreme Court "gutting" the Voting Rights Act.
Does that mean black people can't vote anymore? Sure sounds like it.
No!
The Voting Rights Act has been interpreted as requiring that you racial gerrymander districts so blacks can have their "own" majorities.
It requires government to treat citizens not as individuals, but as members of castes with collective rights, rather than individual rights.
This is antithetical to democracy and American values. It has no basis in the Constitution.
This needed to be "gutted."

It appears they are departing from the reasonable instructions of their pastors, in which case, they are not showing reverence, and are being unnecessarily contentious. Don't talk about submitting to Rome, if you can't even submit to your local priest and bishop.

I didn't say you said he wasn't intelligent. You said God chose roughnecks to build his church and Miles chooses ivory tower pencil necks. I'm saying God chooses both. St. Paul and St. Luke received a kind of elite education and would be disparangingly called ivory tower pencil necks by those who traffic in class resentment, hating the elites, hating academics, etc. This is why I put it in quotation marks.

Yes, most were "roughnecks", but St. Paul and St. Luke, whose writings make up a majority of the New Testament, were "ivory tower pencil necks".

St. Paul was trained as a Pharisee under Gamaliel and St. Luke was a physician. They were elites. St. Paul's qualifications would be a first century Jewish version of a Harvard educated WASP 70 years ago. And God used them to build his Church, just as he used fishermen to build his Church.
