My dad sold the family house for $920,000. Split none of it with me. Said I need to "learn to build my own wealth." He built his by buying a house in 1986 for $71,000. I can't build the same wealth. The house he's talking about doesn't exist at that price anymore.

Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.

I am ok with him paying off the house if he has a line of credit available to access. Now he can really max out his 401k and open a stock/bond account outside the IRA to build up those assets. In 10-20 years, he will have large assets in his 401k and brokerage account and no debt.

My buddy wants to pay off his home Works in HR as a recruiter $230k mortgage at 6% $100k/year total expenses $300k/year household income $200k in high yield savings at 4% Worried about losing his job to AI Don’t touch the $200k in savings? Or throw it all at the mortgage? 🤔

If you tax unrealized gains, there will be many businesses that will sell to get liquidity. Who will they sell to? Big corporations and private equity. This will make things worse. If you want to tax billionaires, simply limit the charitable deduction on the Estate Tax return. This is EZ!!!!

If taxing unrealized gains is somehow “unfair” for billionaires holding stock, then why are middle class homeowners hit every year with rising property taxes based on the unrealized value of their home? Most people haven’t sold their house. They haven’t “realized” anything. Yet the tax bill keeps going up anyway.
