For anyone that really had interests/careers that crossed political lines from their own, I had to write something to a company that sent me a "solidarity" email today. I so sick of this shit, I unsubscribed sent them this... "After years of selling your products in the shop and convincing them to carry your tires during the initial tubeless road/gravel tire fiasco, I got fired from the same shop for political reasons—their draconian requirements about needing to know my vaccine status. To the whole of the bicycle industry wishing people like me dead: I have been ostracized by cycling. Now that I have been forced out, I only kept up with the brands that I really thought produced the best products and stayed away from politics. You brought MN into this conversation by emailing me about 'Solidarity for MN Day.' If you want to close for a day because of it, that's your business—to do what you want. BUT the left you are proclaiming to be on is the side that is requiring you to shout it from the rooftops, whether you realize it or not. I was perfectly happy buying and talking about products from Compass/Rene Herse/Bicycle Quarterly to anyone who would listen, because cycling was an escape from politics—but here it is again. Simply put, MN is in turmoil because one group of people wants the law to be enforced and another thinks the enforcement is wrong. At this point, it's likely safe to assume that whoever reads this has stopped, has branded me as an alt-right extremist, and is happy I'm gone. This ICE situation is really complex. My take is more nuanced. I want our immigration laws to be enforced but I just want them to do it without using any force, and without anyone ever getting hurt, and without anything sad or upsetting happening ever, and if the people we’re trying to deport don’t want to be deported, or if liberal activists don’t want us to deport them, then obviously in that case we shouldn’t do it, but I’m totally a conservative on the issue, unless people get really mad at me then never mind please don’t yell I’m sorry.
