🧵 13 years ago, 4-year-old Abigail had her lemonade stand shut down by police. The officer told Abigail's mom that "This isn't the first time I've had to do this." She was selling 25 cent cups of lemonade, yet was told that to be legal she'd have to get a $400 permit. (1,600 cups of lemonade!) Her dad told a reporter: "If the line is drawn to the point where a 4-year-old… can't sell a couple glasses of lemonade for 25 cents, then I think the line has been drawn at the wrong spot." He's right. And yet all around America, this happens again and again. The @Libertas team decided to push back, and in 2017 got the country's first "Lemonade Stand Law" passed. It says that minors are exempt from business licenses, permits, sales taxes, etc. (And it applies to all entrepreneurial activity, not just lemonade stands.)
