New large study out of Finland completely destroys the narrative that gender reassignment improves the mental health of adolescents. "Among adolescents who underwent medical gender reassignment, psychiatric morbidity increased markedly during follow-up-rising from 9.8% to 60.7% in feminising gender reassignment and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising gender reassignment." "When prior psychiatric morbidity was controlled for, the gender-referred adolescents had a 5- to 6-fold increased need for specialist-level psychiatric treatment two years or more after the index date compared to the male controls, and 3- to 4-fold greater risk compared to the female controls, regardless of the desired direction of change and GR status. This does not sup- port the suggested improvement in mental health after medical GR initiated during developmental years and in light of the present findings, severe psychiatric disorders do not appear primarily attributable to GD. Psychiatric disorders require their due treatment regardless of a young person's gender identity."

Telegram’s latest iOS update appears to have broken the app for a chunk of users on older iPhones. Since the update rolled out, several people are reporting that the app crashes the moment it launches, before they even get the chance to log in. 👇

UCL Philosophy Professor Sebastian Gardner on Sartre's most radical idea: There is no "true self" hiding inside you. Most people spend years searching for their authentic self. Journaling, meditating, asking "who am I really?" Sartre says that search is based on a lie. As Gardner explains, self-consciousness isn't actually consciousness of yourself. It's consciousness of the world. When you become aware of yourself, you're really becoming aware of how you relate to things outside you: objects, people, situations. The idea that there's some fixed inner character, some essential being that you "truly are" is, according to Sartre, a myth. Gardner describes it as a "security blanket." A comforting story we tell ourselves to avoid a more unsettling truth: There is no predetermined character which makes you be who you are. Who you are is a function of what you do. Not what you feel. Not what you intend. Not what you believe about yourself in private. What. You. Do. This flips the common self-help framing entirely. Most people think: "I need to figure out who I am first then I'll act accordingly."* But as Gardner lays out Sartre's argument, that's backwards. You don't discover your character and then live it out. You create your character through your choices, moment by moment. There's no deeper answer waiting to be uncovered. No inner oracle. No authentic self beneath the layers.

Did you know C.S. Lewis predicted the modern obsession with “being nice” would destroy the soul? In The Abolition of Man, Lewis argues that when a society stops believing in objective virtue, it doesn’t become tolerant… it becomes manipulable. He calls the result “men without chests.” People with appetites and intellects, but no courage, no honor, no trained moral instincts. They can calculate everything and defend nothing. Lewis saw that once we reject inherited moral law, we don’t become free. We become raw material… easily shaped by propaganda, pleasure, and fear. Modern man prides himself on compassion while quietly surrendering every standard that once gave compassion meaning. Lewis’s insight is brutal: a civilization that educates clever cowards will eventually be ruled by tyrants or technicians. Because when nothing is worth dying for, everything becomes negotiable… including human dignity.

Detransitioner @JonniSkinner describes his gender therapist’s response to his worries about growing up gay: “‘So it would be easier for you to be a straight woman. You could just live a normal life, have a husband, and no one would look at you any differently’, and that really fed into my desire to transition.”

Why are so many woke leftists bad at understanding others? Brain science may have the answer.” Psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist argues that the left hemisphere of the brain is literal-minded and poor at “theory of mind” — the ability to truly grasp what someone else is thinking, especially when irony, humor, or metaphor is involved. Iain McGilchrist argues that the left hemisphere of the brain is literal-minded and poor at “theory of mind” — the ability to truly grasp what someone else is thinking, especially when irony, humor, or metaphor is involved. He believes modern culture — and particularly the rigid, black-and-white thinking common in today’s culture wars and leftist discourse — has become overly dominated by left-hemisphere processing. The result? Humor is dying, jokes are taken literally, nuance disappears, and genuine empathy becomes rare. McGilchrist sees this as a civilizational shift: we’ve lost the right-hemisphere’s broader, contextual understanding in favor of simplistic, contradiction-free slogans. It’s a provocative neurological explanation for why so much modern political conversation feels so disconnected and humorless. Do you see this literal-mindedness more on the political left, or is it happening across the spectrum?

Thanks for the suggestion to look into the science of brain evolution over the last 50,000 years. Found a new term, self-domestication, this explains what I believe to be true, that our brains are where we are currently biologically evolving to support noosphere development. Its just too closely related to eugenics and therefore politically incorrect to explore.
