GRDC stubble height trial 3rd year results were very interesting: strip disc 4.22t/ha, draper disc 3.83t/ha, draper tyne 3.77t/ha. A warm year with summer rain and a dry finish with no frosts all worked in favour of stripper stubble this year. We have found the strip disc niche.

FarmLink Research@Farm_Link·
Last week we concluded the 2024 series of #diversefarms field walks introducing the new paddock-scale GRDC Southern NSW Farming Systems sites. Here we are taking over six years of small plot research and looking at the challenges and opportunities of upscaling some of those farming systems rotations on real farms. Thanks to everyone involved with the #diversefarms sites – managed by @grassrootsag in collaboration with local advisors and host farmers. Over the last few weeks there’s been plenty of interest in #diversefarms and we look forward to seeing the results come in over the next four years. @AgroJAK @tony_swan64 @CSIRO @MathewDunn19 @GRDCNorth @theGRDC @NSW_AGRONOMY @grassrootsag @gooden_heidi RMS @bakeragad @dansweenss @deltaagribus @McKinleyMatt @brodenholland @CDFrench1 @Lachie_Moloney @ZachMcRae3

Great results coming from @theGRDC farming systems work at Iandra with @AgroJAK and @tony_swan64. Faba beans sequence (DivLV = Faba, canola, wheat) resulting in lower risk (lower annual N inputs) with improved ROI compared with Base = canola, wheat.

Are you sowing enough canola seeds? Here’s some results derived from an @theGRDC project that could help adjust seeding rates (kg/ha) based on small, medium or large seed size. Hope it helps.

@desertfarmer84 @farmagro1 @SCUDaustralia Ben here’s mine I had made a few years back. Some things I suggest are making frames to hold chemical so you don’t have to tie things down and having the ability to flush lines from shuttles.

A plough that buries high carbon topsoil to preserve C and brings low C subsoil to the surface where it sequesters more - for a net increase in Soil C from ploughing - brilliant. Old sites in east Germany from 1970s and 80s showing persistent effects.
