@jack_sperry I’m not saying he’s tom Brady but you guys sound crazy. Tom Brady final pick of his draft . His draft card “ lacked elite athleticism and mobility and lacked the ability to throw an accurate consistent deep ball.” then went on to become the best qb we’ve ever seen.

And no matter what Jon Gruden says, there was a reason Howard went on Day 3 of the NFL Draft last year. Will has good size, is an okay runner with some power to his game, and has good arm strenght with a nice deep ball, but there's way more to the position, especially at the NFL level, than those physical tools. Howard's downfield accuracy was consistently erratic at Ohio State, he's got smaller hands so he had some issues throwing a consistently good football, his pocket presence was abysmal, and he's far from a dynamic playmaker when working outside of structure with either his arm or his legs. I like Will & am rooting for his success, but the chances he proves himself as a legit starting NFL QB next year are pretty slim IMO, and I'd rather have someone with a higher chance of success and a higher upside as my starting QB heading into the 2026 campaign.

If you're getting your hopes up that Will Howard is gonna be the Steelers' starting QB in 2026, I wouldn't. In the history of the NFL, no team has ever gone into a season with the plan of a 6th round pick at QB who has never taken a snap in an NFL game to be their starting QB. Ever. I don't expect the Steelers to be the exception, especially with a new head coach coming in that didn't draft Howard and will likely want to bring in 'his guy' at the position. I think the best chance Will has is maybe they bring in a cheaper veteran like Geno Smith and they let Will compete for the job in camp, but I would be shocked if the team decided to just hand Howard the starting job with no competition heading into the 2026 season. More likely, he'll be on the roster as a backup and if the season goes to crap with the starter they end up bringing in this offseason, Howard may get a chance to show what he can do to finish the 2026 season as PIT's QB1. But our Week 1 starter? I personally doubt it.
