@F530Josh @TomcatJunkie Of course, absolutely. They could never reasonably fit everything in <3 hours. All the most important pieces are there. Still an easy 9/10 for me.

Project Hail Mary was a 9.5/10 Outstanding cinematography and the practical effects were a breath of fresh air after being bombarded with constant AI and CGI slop for the last fifteen years. They lose a half point for ruining the surprise character in the trailers.

@F530Josh I have one major gripe with this movie. I’m not saying anything about it for a bit though. The movie was absolutely fantastic but this one thing took me out of the movie for at least a minute. It’s nitpicky as hell but it is what it is.

The more I delve into GitHub and the Open Source Community, the more I am convinced that: A. The FOSS community has created some incredible products, completely free to use. Some often better than the competitors. B. Most AAA closed-source applications are garbage or outright detrimental to the user.

(no spoilers below for hail mary) i just watched an early screening - TLDR: this was the greatest movie i've seen in over 10 years this movie has given me faith - that hollywood can still create something truly novel, beautiful and incredibly engaging i felt like i was laughing or crying or on the edge of my seat the entire movie - something i haven't done in years due to the absolute dogshit recycled/excruciatingly boring content being pumped out these days there's just no other way for me to describe it - for 156 minutes straight, i was in pure bliss. from the visuals, to the perfectly balanced soundtrack, the outstanding plot, and to the ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY performance of ryan gosling it is so insanely rare in this day and age for a new movie to be a perfect 10 out of 10. the closest chance we have to getting one is whenever christopher nolan is able to take a shot at it every few years. but this one did it. it truly did. if you have the ability to watch this in IMAX, prioritize this. trust me. it is the movie we've all been waiting for its 1:35am and i had to get this off my chest right after getting home. it was that fucking good. i will likely go again to re-watch it soon "grace rocky save stars. amaze amaze amaze"

The ONLY nitpick I can think of, and it's not the fault of the screenplay writers at all, is that imho reading the book first actively detracts from the film. Of course they had to leave some parts out. But maybe the film felt a bit rushed? Some world building explanations that would have added more depth? Movie was 8.5-9/10 for me. Needed a 6-part miniseries to cover everything in the book. Now THAT would be an easy 10/10 for me.

This was my only gripe with the film, which I LOVED btw. 8/10 My gut tells me it would have been 10/10 perfect as a 6-part limited miniseries. Book added so much more nuance and context that the film just didn't have time to cover. Film perhaps feels a bit rushed pacing-wise? Might just be me.

@mcrs987 May I inquire how similar the film is to the book? I intend on seeing it but I hope the dialogue in the film is better than the book.
