The best leaders are not at all competitive. They aren’t constantly trying to outdo their peers [even behind their backs], stamp their higher authority on their team or demonstrate their superiority. There is no need. The team & the collective achievement of outcomes is their job

medical jargon: “empiric” = I don’t know “differential is broad” = I don’t know “correlate clinically” = I don’t know “poor historian” = he/she doesn’t know “consult rheumatology” = who knows?

@DrLucyPain as an OT, two questions i find myself often having to ask in MDT meetings: 'and what does dorothy want?' 'does dorothy know about that?' (diagnosis/treatment plan)

In your MDT meetings (regardless of specialty) is the patient's voice usually heard as you discuss their care? If so, who is usually advocating for them? And who responsibility for ensuring the patient's goals & experience is at the centre of your plans?

a very thoughtful blog around ageism and ableism, which reflects some of my own thoughts on the importance of language used in healthcare.. inclusive, destigmatized language is something i try to get better at myself, and challenge, every day 💚🏥 Human rewritingsocialcare.blog/2024/02/03/hum…

Conversations about trust at work often focus on the relationship between leaders & their teams. As (or more) important is trust between team members. Research with 1,000 workers identified five trust-based behaviours that set the highest performing teams apart. These teams: 1) establish norms for collaboration 2) keep colleagues informed 3) share praise & credit for work done well 4) believe disagreements make them better 5) proactively address tensions in the team Trust isn’t relayed by leaders from the top down. It’s built organically on a foundation of behaviors exhibited by all team members that enables everyone to produce their best hbr.org/2024/01/how-hi… By @RonFriedman

@DementiaUK living with dementia is different for everyone - it does not automatically mean the person is confused or unable to make decisions for themselves 💚

@DrLKVaughan Hi! My apprenticeship was 4 years with Canterbury Christchurch University. We cover the same course content, modules and placement hours as full time students. Plus working in NHS at the same time. It's challenging, but students bridge the theory and practice gap more easily 💚

I didn't realise that apprenticeships for allied health practitioners were already happening. And have been for some time. The apprenticeship route is 2 yrs effectively part time. Funded. Uni route is 3 yrs full time. Unfunded. 🧐
