Square Enix has teamed up with a Tokyo AI company called Mantra. They created a simple tool that makes one of the hardest parts of making manga much faster. Right now, editors spend more than 3,000 hours every year just picking the right font, size, and position for every speech bubble on every page. It is slow, boring work that must be done by hand. The new tool looks at the raw pages, reads the words and bubble shapes, and quickly suggests the best font and layout. Editors still check everything and can change it if needed. The AI does not draw or change the art at all. It only helps with the technical steps. They tested it on 1,516 pages. The editors liked it a lot, 73% were happy with the results and every single one said they want to keep using it. One editor said it lets them work on other important tasks instead of spending all day writing font notes.
