Where I'm at here: OKC and San Antonio have raised the bar so high that any team realistically hoping to compete with them has to be willing to stomach uncomfortable risks.
Keeping Jaylen is safe. Trading for Giannis has a higher ceiling. You need ceiling to beat those teams.

I LOVE Jaylen Brown. I love what he's done on AND off the floor. His relationship with the city has blossomed. His number will be retired. But, ultimately, I'd be OK dealing JB for Giannis, IF Giannis signs an extension. I understand Giannis is two years older and has a longer injury history, but: - He's a top-3 player - He has a postseason "superpower" (Rim Impact/Downhill) - He should still have 3-4 years of high level play left - You can't double both him and Tatum - He improves rebounding and interior defense - He adds versatility (IF he's willing to play the '5' at times) You have to take emotion out of it.

The NBA is trying to implement lottery reform that states no team can land first in two consecutive drafts, or in the top five in three consecutive drafts, which makes some sense.
However, the NBA is proposing that this rule also applies to traded picks. Meaning, say a team has traded their 2028 pick away but they win the #1 pick in 2027 — the 2028 pick, despite being owned by a different team, will be unable to land #1. Moronic.

@TimGarrisonMN Well Laroche made his PnR frequency far less. Not even top 50 on the league 24/25. They let him go but an odd hire in the first place. And IIsalo did increase it some last year but i still wouldn’t consider it super high freq spread PNr

My problem with Ja Morant is his superpower is applying rim pressure at such a high level it warps the defense and creates unique passing lanes.
The problem? He hasn’t been the same level of threat and he’s not warping the defense like he used to. His finishing and scoring at the rim has significantly regressed and continues to regress every year.
On top of that, we just watched a series in which Wembanyama shut down the the rim and painted area. Getting a guy whose superpower entails directly going at Wembanyama while at the same time is losing his superpower just feels like the wrong move.
That’s not even considering the character of who you’re bringing in.

@badanglebball @DietBeginsMon Honestly Jok. At that thing it felt like there was no hope. With Wemby it always just felt like we needed to hit more open threes. Play like Boston and you can beat Wemby for now, their offense isn’t as unstoppable as Jok was that night.

There was a section of game 5, I think mid first Quarter vs the Wolves where i don’t think I can ever remember a player being “everywhere” to the extent he was everywhere on the court at once and doing everything at the same time

@JaceFrederick But like you said, had to play solid in all phases to win. Constantly hit good shots and take pars patiently. Not easy to make doubles or birdies. Rai played so lights out yesterday. Kept firing at pins, mostly executing, but when he got in a tough spot, recovered. Amazing golf.

@JaceFrederick I think that course is how you can protect golf from the modern bombing. Fast hard greens/fairways and tucked pins on ridges. Little narrower and that’s a US open. Can see why the players don’t like it tho, pins negated some ball striking advantage, no way to hit it close often.

@run_bull_ depends on what it costs to get them. I like Zion the player in theory but not sure about his fit. I’d feel better about KD than Zion. Ja needs a touch more humbling to take a smaller role. I don’t know if we’d win more with him but it would be fun. And clutch he’d help
