Like it does give u the general idea of if the team or a player had a bad day, or if the general strategy is failing, and also by how much. So u do get to draw some performance conclusions. I don't think any statistician would argue against that point.

@ConceptScouting I just personally feel like it’s a made up stat. Who is deciding whether someone’s effort at goal is made up of 0.08 xG based on him being a defender shooting on his weaker foot from 12 yards out off balance? Having watched Wolves this season, they should not be on 30 points.

I can accept a referee making an error in real time (yes, I’ll moan at it). I cannot accept multiple referees still getting a decision wrong after viewing it 20 times.

@JakeLongworth @TheAdrianDurham Agree. Some of football’s all time moments are contentious. Maradona’s hand of god, Geoff Hirst’s goal in the final. These things can never happen anymore due to VAR.
