The lack of EV adoption in the US is really disappointing. I know there aren't a lot of great choices but even if there were, many people would still buy an ICE vehicle due to their skepticism of EV's for whatever misguided reasons
Apparently a lot of people love driving cars that are slow, noisy, require far more maintenance and emit pollutants that kill people
@kevinrschultz@sydney_ev Yeah, for light driving, only 24 years to break even, then you start doing good.
"one-third of EV drivers with only 5,000 miles a year will take 24 years to break-even with an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle’s CO2 output".
Remember when EV batteries were supposed to die faster than your iPhone? Turns out they age better than your uncle’s diesel ute. Kia EV6 leads the pack. Tesla Model Y’s not far behind.
New study shows 80% used EVs still have 90%+ capacity.
Some EVs are pushing 300,000 miles with 80% still intact. swedenherald.com/article/kia-an…
@sydney_ev EV's have their positive points, but mining the planet to death isn't green. Longer lasting batteries are great, but eventually will lead to environmental nightmares.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analysed the cost of solar in 2004.
Today, building a fence with solar panels can be cheaper than using wood.
@foundmyfitness Coffee drinking elevates cortisol which has all sorts of negative health effects. Roasted coffee beans contain acrylamide and instant coffee has the most. Acrylamide may be hazardous. fda.gov/food/process-c…
The mycotoxin thing is a bit overblown.
Coffee hasn’t ever been definitely linked to brain fog, fatigue, or other symptoms. Roasting gets rid of up to 96% of mycotoxins and brewing with a paper filter eliminates another 20%.
Plus, studies consistently demonstrate that moderate coffee consumption has significant health benefits, such as reductions in cardiovascular disease and overall mortality risk, and these positive outcomes occur regardless of the presence of trace mycotoxins, which remain well below harmful thresholds.
