Newsflash: you can’t “burn up the CNS” of a high school athlete for like a million reasons…but here a few: 1. Lack of myelination 2. Slow rate coding 3. Slow firing rates 4. Relative low % of motor unit recruitment 5. Lack of consistent motor behavior 6. Low contralateral control

I’m referring to the delicacy of the CNS(Central nervous system) for you coaches who aren’t too familiar. Tapping into that to that extent at an early age will shorten the athlete’s ceiling and if you refer to this with science hasn’t proven that I know the type of coach you are

@JakeSportsPerf I probably was in college the last time Jarvis beat me and have been only jumping for 3-4 years 🤣 If that matters- I coached a 10.1 freshmen with no 100m experience, 10.2 freshmen, and an 8m jumper who never jumped over 25ft

@Ijump_Ags Most kids get injured from a variety of poor training choices. Singling out any of them is irrelevant. if used properly at the right times, most training modalities can be valuable for anyone if applied correctly. You ever even done overspeed on a 1080?

Let me be clear- when referring to the 1080, I am referring to the use of consistent overspeed at the high school level with a 1080 machine with intention of high school kids running sub 10, sub 11. I am not thinking about injury related
