@_IGI_Media_ The “people like you” part was unnecessary. The tells you’re talking about, some call heuristics, are incredibly important. But the path to get them is often convoluted. Most are resultant of larger things at play. And chasing them becomes running down an empty road.

@jakebrydson can't wait for people like you to stop thinking everything is an "either or" proposition. Strength and coordination are important, but the human body has some tells as far as players that excel at the game. I.e. Lots of folks don't realize that Michael Jordan had exception hands, ideal for gripping/palming the ball. it's not the latest trend, and didn't replace proper shooting, rather just an aspect of his game that allowed him to elite.

Can’t wait for this to become the next “drive phase”. It’s strength and coordination. Yet mobility will be how people try and reverse engineer it. But some will still try and cue their way to it without ever actually supporting the movement away from the movement.

Early in my career as an evaluator, I had this legendary lacrosse coach convince me to examine shin angles if I really wanted to know how athletic a guy is. He argued that change of direction, balance, and body control would show up in guys who could get to 30 degrees... I was skeptical at first but couldn't agree more after it continues to show up. Anybody else ever heard of this metric?

I’m going to recommend 80’s action movies when the people I coach say they don’t know what to watch next. Enjoy Big Trouble in Little China and you just remember what ole Jack Burton says at a time like that: “have you paid your dues, Jack? Yes sir, the check is in the mail.”

DOWN TO THE WIRE 😬 The #NCAATF 3000m final comes down to a dramatic finish, with four men in contention in a physical final 50 meters. Ultimately, 5000m champ Habtom Samuel of @UNMLoboXCTF just barely edges out DMR champ Colin Sahlman of NAU by 5/1000ths of a second. Samuel claims his fourth national title and second of the weekend in 7:41.65, with Sahlman second in 7:41.66 ahead of Oregon’s Simeon Birnbaum (7:41.85) and Villanova’s Marco Langon (7:42.56).

The placing field of the Men's 5K in the #d3track podium walked off the stage rather than be pictured with the champion. And went to the side and held their own group photo. IYKYK

Last year, The Atlantic gave me $10K to gamble with. What started as a journalistic gimmick turned into something more... unnerving. My cover story on the online betting boom warping sports, culture, politics, and the psyches of millions of young men: theatlantic.com/magazine/2026/…

My girls thesis defense is today. Her research found a gap in the literature based on the cross section of the population she studied that avatars over a 15 yr period were tended to. The predominant theories only deal w exploration of identity not maintenance over time

Per the information sent to teams, in the last 16 years the fastest 10-40yd laser to laser split at the NFL combine is 2.700, producing a jaw dropping Tru40 of 4.158! But can you guess who the mystery speedster is?

29th overall opens up some fun WR options for the Chiefs depending on how the board falls and they don’t go Tate top 10. KC, Boston, Cooper, Tyson if he gets dinged for medicals are possible late first rounders.

@lahti_johan High jump is interesting because the bar height is not only an attractor for the movement strategy, it is also highly involved in the psychology/arousal level of the athlete. In my experience, there’s some throttling at lower bars that’s allowable, while still clearing.

Dynamic systems theory, i get that there is variability in movement, and definitely a new area for me, but the studies im seeing dont actually control for the best possible outcome. So high jump for example, successful vs unsuccessful attempts over a specific height. Wouldnt the much more accurate way of looking at this is the one attempt that peaked vertical COM trajectory? Then look at simple correlations from multiple kinetic/kinematic variables from numerous jumps that was there a trend towards this individuals best performance ? I think this would be quite difficult to do without simulations. But the problem im more seeing is that people think that producing the same impulse with different strategies is the same as producing the best possible impulse for a individual human body can be done with with different strategies

@BissettPerspec_ Sadiq pick would be dependent on if they can land Njoku in FA. I like R2 and R3 fits.
