Structural integrity... I built my house myself... from trees that were on my property that I cut down and milled out.
Quality, strength... something I can leave to future generations.
Having zero debt... no mortgage and designing & building all out of pocket.
But the land is the biggest attraction for me. Lots of woods for hunting and for firewood.
But in the end.. having an amazing wife and wonderful children and black lab to share it with is the greatest thing!

IF it were up to my wife...
We would live in a small town.
She would drive a Jeep Cherokee
Flip cell phone she rarely answered
White Farmhouse with a wrap around porch
No TV, No technology
Land, Animals, Farmers Markets
I think she is stuck in a 1990's Hallmark movie
At the same time I want her to have an experience outside of city life

What a legend. RIP Chuck. ❤️🙏
Always sobering when someone super famous passes.
It's everyone's fate.
This life is short.
Eternity is very long.
All the accomplishments, fame, money, etc. is meaningless on a long enough time frame.
Take a moment today & get right with God.
Lord grant us eternal vision. 🙏

I started and run mine 100% debt free... I can't imagine the corners I might have had to cut or the products I might have felt forced to try to push had I had the weight of a debt payment to come up with every month.
My business can be run with integrity.. much of that is due to not feeling like I am owned by a lender.

After 12+ years running our current business...
And 20 years self-employed...
This question:
Should I go into debt to start a business?
Lives rent-free in my head,
Maybe more than it should.
When this question popped up recently, in a group I'm in...
Two types of advice showed up:
Version One [Don't go into debt]
Be prudent with your money.
Get creative with constraints.
Use money you've already made.
— from people who’ve built successful businesses
Version Two [There's "good/smart" debt]
Don't be afraid to invest in yourself.
Don't hold yourself back.
There's future ROI.
— from some money coaches
While I understand the time & place for the 2nd… it still makes me sad to see it.
I’ve seen the downside for too many, too many times.
The first is "harder" in the beginning...
But easier forever after.

@Jake___Oliver It's SO be worth it!
This will be a distant memory!

@lulumeservey I don't need Ai to make me silly images...
Productivity, helping me better help my clients.. that's pretty much it...
The rest of it seems useless.

These are the top things Claude users wanted from AI
Meanwhile a lot of AI companies’ messaging focuses on the things at the bottom of this list:
creativity, learning, entrepreneurship, societal transformation
ie, things tech people care a lot about

Anthropic@AnthropicAI
We invited Claude users to share how they use AI, what they dream it could make possible, and what they fear it might do. Nearly 81,000 people responded in one week—the largest qualitative study of its kind. Read more: anthropic.com/features/81k-i…

@markcecchini Great time to have a Roth or a brokerage account to dip into for extra money.

@adrienne_lain I was thinking tonight how horrible insulating my cathedral ceiling has been on my addition.
Dust everywhere... having to wear protective gear... sweating.. just pretty much hating everything..
And I thought.. "you know Jake. It will be worth it in the end".
English

@Jake___Oliver Average people chase lifestyle creep, that's why.
English

@TheKateBernal Yes, that and most just don't see market pullbacks as opportunities... they see them as disadvantages.
English

@Jake___Oliver Idk but I just bought a few VGT this morning
