@lewis_goodall Thanks Lewis. Largely ignored by the podcast ecosystem. But over time, this indifference is why people are turning to Plaid, just an afterthought to London.
NEW: Rhun ap Iorwerth is officially the new First Minister of Wales, for Plaid.
Huge moment for them, for Welsh Labour and for Wales. First non-Labour FM since devolution in 1999.
@soph_husk When are this clique around Starmer going to realise that there isn't a record for him to defend! He has been woefully inadequate on public policy from any perspective.
The only thing that would've saved him is a change of policy direction, not reemphasising past failures
NEW: Mood in No10 described as "sombre and emotional" after the PM suffered two resignations in the junior ranks of government
Insiders say the atmosphere in Downing Street is "pretty dire" - and that momentum currently feels like it's against Mr Starmer
They added that there was “too much” pressure on this morning’s speech, adding: “There were so many people who were saying that this speech is going to show a big change. There was too much pressure on it and we should have focused on the record in government.”

Growing up in #Wales, you're always taught the Welsh valleys is Labour through and through, like it's in their genetics.
Today's Welsh election shows that era is over, at least for now, with Labour picking up just 1 in 6 seats in every constituency across the Valleys.
@Mylovanov I would love it if China just took a big chunk of Siberia. This would probably assuage Emperor Xi's need for some military victory over Taiwan.
Kasparov: Russia will lose territories after the war. The North Caucasus will likely break away first.
China already eyes the Russian Far East and Eastern Siberia — lands that belonged to China until 1860.

Another Labour MP calls for Starmer to go. It wasn't survivable for him before this. But it's unravelling completely now. Briefing in the week was PLP had to move first. Well, it's moved.
Important data point here: “A sharp fall in Labour's performance is accompanied more often by an above average Green performance than it is by a strong Reform performance”.
The Greens have already hurt Labour even before any direct gains.
@mchinegunkelli@AndyMasley Yeah, you'd get degradation of grass, rocks, etc. But they are already there so it's not polluting the environment. The solar panels are made of compounds not native to the environment and therefore are polluting
Learning via my comments that a ton of people are under the impression that solar panels pollute the land they are on. This seems to be completely fake but a lot of people believe it anyway. Like where would the pollution even come from?
@archer_rs This might be accurate but here in east Flintshire there is a residual element who are going to vote for Reform, and their candidates don't have Wales' best interest. We need a high turnout to counter this.
Reports from the Reform Party they have "given up" on Scotland and Wales now admitting they can't win there. All the effort, all the money now concentrated on England. Their candidates in Scotland and Wales effectively cut adrift and left to fend for themselves.
@FirstSquawk Grok:
The demand stems from Panama's annulment of contracts with Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison and the interim handover of Balboa and Cristóbal terminals to subsidiaries of Maersk and MSC earlier in 2026.
@GammaQuinn@BrankoMilan ...is "Essentially English", simple because much of the last millenia had it under English authority.
Likewise in Ukraine, Putin's position that the Ukraine is essentially Russian due to some misguided interpretation of history is causing senseless strife.
The problem for the West to understand (going against several millennia of own history) is that China will not conquer it not because it cannot but because it does not care.
@GammaQuinn@BrankoMilan "fixed". That's such an irredentist take. Who's to say the Roman Empire's territory wasn't "fixed" in the 4th century, or the British Empire's territory wasn't "fixed" at its peak? Tibet (etc) was quite clearly an independent state
@James41544852@BrankoMilan If you understand China's history, China's current territory was basically fixed as early as the Tang Dynasty (the 700s), with the exception of Xizang, which was not incorporated into China until the Yuan Dynasty (the 1300s).
