@CanesDavid @JOSEPHM45075332 Ai in its current llm form that some people think is near agi is highly imprecise and I believe that the barrier to precision and ability to account for all variables is probably higher than people think.
English

@CanesDavid @JOSEPHM45075332 I am not someone who thinks that ai is coming for many of the jobs that others do anytime soon, but FSD only works because it does make probabilistic decisions and there is very good theory about decision making under uncertainty - I don’t think this in and of itself is a barrier
English

We’re extrapolating what AI has solved for computer coding unfairly to every industry.
Take surgery for example. Surgery isn’t deterministic like coding, where there’s a right and wrong. In software, it works or it’s broke. Flawless or a bug. 🐛 Surgery isn’t deterministic. It’s messy decision making. Hundreds of correct choices. At every fork there’s not just one way forward.
AI ain’t coming for surgery anytime soon.

@nickmmark Yeah I can’t even find that paper … but I’m sure you’ve heard both sides, I guess scarcity of opportunity to pursue a valuable license is sort of the other proposed reason for low wages
English

@JamesBarnesMD I’ve seen Econ papers argue both sides. I think it’s the classic ask two economists a yes/no question and you get three answers.
The majority of what I’ve read - including the 2002 antitrust lawsuit - seems to argue price fixing is going on.

Even when the GOP manages to do something right they are doing it for the wrong reasons.
Residency isn’t a government funded jobs program. It’s important life or death clinical work. It demands the best doctor for each position. 98% of US grads eventually match. That part of the system is working fine.
The issue is that the match is an anti-competitive cartel that keeps resident wages low & blocks negotiating.
Rep. Scott Fitzgerald@RepFitzgerald
The Match, shielded by a medical residency antitrust exemption, controls where future doctors train and what they’re paid. This monopoly leaves thousands of qualified applicants without a residency slot each year. ⬇️

I’m pretty sure that when you hit a ball off the wall you shouldn’t get thrown out on a relay throw designed to go to home plate and redirected to second base by the second baseman!
I wonder if standing at home plate and admiring it led to this?
To make matters worse the @Nationals challenged the call at second!
A real Manager would not have challenged the call and instead would have pulled his lazy ass from the game!
@MLB players only do this 💩 because they are not being held accountable by their Managers!
It doesn’t take talent to hustle!

@DrDiGiorgio This is a good reason to be very skeptical of Medicare for all
English

Keep this in mind when considering Medicare for all.
It puts 100% of US healthcare spending under the control of the Secretary of HHS.

@txsportsdoc @averagemoneymd Agree, I had to get into a similar policy that included long term care to avoid the long term care tax in Washington because it was my only choice , but term is the way to go
English

Shared this before. I got talked into a whole life policy ten years back. $50k in, immediate drop by $15k(broker fee), 9 yrs later lost over half its value. Why would anyone ever do this? Term life is good investment to protect your family. The brokers and NWM has bad rep in this space who sell these things.
English

My best friend called me yesterday. Said he's meeting with an advisor from Northwestern Mutual. Said he's sick of paying so much in taxes and looking for options.
Dual physician family - W2 jobs with combined income >$1 mil
I just told him, whatever you do, do not let them talk you into a whole life insurance policy.
English

@Eliezeraugust0 @notgaetti That’s ridiculous, he was so good. Overshadowed by ped users like so many but wow.
English

Damn
Not Gaetti@notgaetti
I just put Albert’s first 10 seasons vs. Judge’s first 10 seasons into @Stathead and literally GASPED (& this would be a clean sweep by Pujols if not for the fact that he overlapped with PED-era Barry Bonds et al. while Judge plays with .230 hitters that strike out 200x a year!)
English

@thehowie Also I think the attitude when someone disagrees with you that I am missing the point intentionally is arrogant and it is a bad approach to discourse. Good luck with that. I would recommend being more open to discussion
English

@thehowie You are making the point that trump is causing volatility - where’s the evidence? We need to keep a level head and not act like everything has the trump explanation. I don’t like trump. I don’t think you have any evidence that trump is causing volatility over what we normally see
English

@baseball_cards Me too I just hope I can’t get a few boxes. I feel really lucky to somehow have gotten that because I can’t get anything else that’s in high de and since then basically
English

@JamesBarnesMD Very cool! I got a Judge parallel and a Ben Rice /50 or /75. It's a super fun set. I can't wait until the next one!
English

Throw back to last December when I got this Ohtani Stars In The Night. I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. It got sleeved, top loaded and went into my “cool cards under $10” box. It’s selling for north of $550 now. Cool!
Baseball Cards@baseball_cards
Mets Starchasers with Soto and Lindor and the Starry Night Shohei Ohtani! (I’m not a breaker so it’s not numbered)
English

@baseball_cards And it seems like the judge stars in the night is worth around 300 these days. It’s a great looking card.
English

@baseball_cards Yeah, that was what I paid originally I somehow got lucky and got three
