Reading an interesting case in NEJM. How often gi folks see lymphocytic esophagitis , and treat it with steroids? I must say I’ve never seen it.

Behind the fanfare of GP telehealth numbers becoming permanent, the Federal government has introduced a whole slew of stealth cuts. This will effective cut Medicare rebates to patients in regional and rural areas by 33% or a third. A thread 🧵…

Do most units now use US for therapeutic paracentesis? Not sure if there’s an evidence base suggesting it’s actually safer. I always felt if you couldn’t percuss the ascites, there probably wasn’t enough to tap. Who does your standard taps? #LiverTwitter

Glad to see that genotyping is not mandated in these guidelines. Personally disagree that liver disease has to be staged prior to commencing treatment. Shouldn’t prevent patient engagement. Can be done in the future. @GregDore2 @stephentbarclay @ProfJohnDillon @JVLazarus

While spontaneous yawning is common across all vertebrate classes, *contagious* yawning is less common and has been observed only in a few species of *social* animals. But, sweetly, elephants yawn when we do. 1/

@AutoImmuneLiver @EASLedu True - I suspect all conferences moving to a hybrid model allowing both physical and digital attendances will be the way forward.

@AndrewBuckle15 Other issues we have found: 1. People with poor hearing - particularly elderly that sometimes rely on lip reading 2. Phone interpreters on conference call can be very difficult! 3. Need to confirm address hasn’t changed prior to sending out test requests.
