@JamesHinchclif6 Sure, food is a major source of C emissions, but the costs of land use change go beyond carbon eq. Ecosystem services provided by mangroves for example Coastal protection from storm surges.

@sanders_trystan Land use change is often included in a lot of LCAs as it is also included for a lot of feed ingredients. Soybean can contributes massively to this, especially for such a carnivorous group like shrimp that’s why it’s often the largest footprint

@JamesHinchclif6 Deforestation is the major carbon footprint in pond farming, and I’m not sure it’s included in most carbon footprint estimates for aquaculture

@sanders_trystan Then start at the feed, that makes up 50% of aquaculture’s footprint ;) anyone know a crustacean nutritionist? 🤓

@clumpusjim Also the fish do not look so much like wolffish larvae, I have attached an image below of newly hatched larvae in Norway

Fascinating find, caught a female spotted wolffish Anarhichas minor and its stomach was full of fish larvae. The question is, are these wolffish larvae, and was it larvae from this fish. To have consumed this many, the larvae must have been concentrated. 1/n

@clumpusjim Hi, can you tell if the fish you caught is male or female? It’s normally the male who guards the eggs so if this was female it has probably snatched someone else’s young

Interested in improving the welfare of crustaceans then you can read our review on analgesia and anaesthesia in all species not just decapods and use an online tool to find out information on the method or species of choice #crustacean #animalwelfare mdpi.com/2079-7737/12/3…

Today we reached 8 billion on the planet. The issue of how we will sustainably feed all these people is greater than ever especially when the full effect of Putins war is taken into consideration

I’m enjoying @JamesHinchclif6 a lot as an F1 announcer. Can we trade PDR for him, pretty please?
