Last week’s strong growth figures show that this government has the right economic plan. Today, the IMF has upgraded the UK’s growth forecast. We are building a stronger, fairer Britain.

Today’s strong growth figures show the Government has the right economic plan. The choices I have made as Chancellor mean our economy is in a stronger position as we deal with the costs of the war in Iran. Now is not the time to put our economic stability at risk.

My government will end the status quo that has failed working people. We will build a stronger, fairer Britain.

These election results are tough. The country faces tough challenges too that we were elected to take on. The PM has said more needs to change and we need to offer people more hope. The right thing is not for us to turn inward, but to get on with what we were elected to do.

These are tough results for Labour. There’s no sugarcoating it. We’ve lost brilliant Labour representatives who’ve stood up for their communities. People are still frustrated. Their lives aren’t changing fast enough. We haven’t offered enough hope or optimism for the future. I was elected to change this country - tough days like this don’t weaken my determination to do that. They strengthen it.

Britain is a land that belongs to all of us. We must take a collective stand against antisemitism.

Today marks the biggest shake-up of renters’ rights in a generation. The Renters’ Rights Act: ✅ends Section 21 evictions ✅limits rent rises to once a year ✅bans bidding wars ✅and stops discrimination against families, benefit claimants and pet owners.

We are standing on the cusp of a technological British renaissance, and this government will not let it pass us by. We will seize the opportunities of AI for our economic prosperity, & our national security, to build a future that works for all. My message @rusi_org today👇

These growth figures show the Government has the right plan to build a stronger more resilient economy. But the war in Iran will come at a cost. That is why we are taking the right, fair and necessary action to protect families and businesses.

Our priority is de-escalation. Global conflict drives up energy costs and hits the most vulnerable hardest. In Washington, the Chancellor is working with partners to push for stability, a sustained ceasefire and safe energy routes - while acting at home to keep bills down.
