No names mentioned. No athlete. No coach. No schools named. Just a generic situation where the athlete (or the athlete/coach) is trying to gain an advantage by putting their rear end 12-18 inches into the faster team’s lane. Since curve runners run on the INSIDE half of their lane, 12-18” of obstruction can be fatal. Raising awareness through social media hurts no one and may, hopefully, prevent these problems in the future. My IL #2 4x1 in 2016 was a victim of intentional butt interference by a slower team. My incoming 3-runner had to swerve to avoid a collision. This slowed him down enough to not reach our outgoing runner. We had a chance to be State Champs. We were DQ’d. The interfering team was rewarded with a state medal.

Sent to me today from Collinsville. “Butt Interference” by a #2 or #4 runner in the 4x1 should result in disqualification and the kid’s coach should be called out. The low squat with feet perpendicular to the track has only one mission… interference.

Starting to come around on this rough season. Hit 13.16 with a 14 meter foul in shotput today and placed 13th at a competitive Winston brown meet. Looking forward to the rest of this season and a lot of prs to come.
