@gator_gum I don’t agree with everything Saad says, but losing a tenured academic at least partly because he felt unsafe on campus is not worth celebrating.

@bellgirl67 @menrvasofia I have, but it’s been some time. Lousy owners might try to cheat - but won’t be just on this. In any event - Ontario’s approach is similar to most other provinces now. Only 2 of the Atlantic provinces require shops to close.

@JamesPort66 @menrvasofia Tell me you've never worked in retail or restaurants without telling me. There is no choice and you'd be shocked how many pretend ignorance around paying legally or substitute days off.

@guyfelicella Venmo is instantaneous. Zelle is a short wait. Interac is great. Usually super quick, but have had to wait 20 minutes plus on rare occasions

Canada: “I sent the money.” “Got it.” America: “Download these 4 apps and wait 3 business days.” 🇨🇦🤣 Nothing better than Etransfer.

@TateHackert Etransfer is horrible compared to the US apps

@Articwolfman2 @sarobertson_ CBSA can also search phones. This is not a unique power at a border crossing. That’s said - I think it is very rare on both sides of the border.

@sarobertson_ I was invited to South Carolina this past winter. My partner and I are avid anti Trump advocates. We would have had to reset our phones to factory setting and erase 30K posts from Twitter or delete our accounts to get through the fascists at the border. We stayed home.

@acoyne Maybe it’s part of what makes us a great place? I detest separatists (Quebec included), but maybe it all makes us strive to be better.

@Reil76 Moving at the speed of Ottawa. However the new pipeline the U.S. executive just approved is good news. While it won’t diversify markets - it can be done very quickly and will carry about as much product as TMX.

Carney is moving ahead on a new pipeline to get Canadian oil to global markets, something Alberta has been demanding for years. And yet, Alberta is STILL complaining. First it was “we need pipelines.” Now it’s “not this one,” “not fast enough,” or “not good enough.” At some point it stops being about pipelines and starts looking like a province that just wants to be perpetually mad no matter what happens.

@ttcriders Maybe. I think it should be considered. The province has means that the City lacks. We used to have a transit system that was the envy of most. It’s now suffers widespread dysfunction

Bill 98, Ford's backdoor upload of the TTC, just passed in the legislature 61-31. This is a dark day for transit. We expect fares to go up, routes to be changed and consultations with riders to cease.

@OrbitStudios Well…I’m not a fan either …but we have been doing it for decades with the Quebec variety. The western version, to be truthful, has been around for almost as long. They just were considered more fringe

Dear Albertan Seperatist, If you hate Canada and want to leave, go. You're absolutely free to leave the country you hate. However, you do not have the right to take millions of others that don't want to go along with you. If you hate living in Canada, why are you staying? If it's so critical you "get out from our government" then start the process right now. Today. I think for some it's just a game, and you have no intentions of ever leaving. You just want to yell, rebel, and vent about a government you dislike... There are some very serious, of course.. But why remain? Why?

@CheriDiNovo NYC is borrowing money from a pension trust and raiding a reserve fund - and increasing taxes and fees this year. Next year will be tough without serious cuts or tax increases. Ontario is borrowing too much, but at least we are building infrastructure, which was decades late

There is no comparison between the Quebec and Alberta separation movements. Quebec separation is based on being a distinct society and culture. Alberta separation is based on money and the perception of some of being wronged.

@kinsellawarren Am not a separatist, but disagree. It’s important to get a higher court decision. The will of the voter is crucial.

@raghu_venugopal The most important thing we can do is take care of our own affairs properly. We have a lot of work to do and blaming others only can go so far.
