@DrRLofthouse I'm not sure what you have said or who you have upset, but in a way, this is largely irrelevant. Freedom of expression in academia is fundamental and we should all defend it.

I know I sometimes stick my neck out. I say what others are thinking but can’t always say out loud. It’s not benefiting me. It’s not a business model. I’m not selling anything. It doesn’t often create a positive feedback loop. But for now it matters to me that I can. For now …

@stemomt @oidel_edu The freedom of parents to read different newspapers and watch different news channels is not undermined by the fact that some parents cannot afford to access them. I see it as a foundational principle upon which everything else is based.

@JamesStanfield1 @oidel_edu Thanks for the reply @JamesStanfield1 . Now I am in trouble: how can a low income family exercise the "prior right to choose the kind of education" if they cannot afford to pay the enrolment fees? What freedom are we talking about? Freedom of dreaming?

@stemomt @oidel_edu Thanks for the question @stemomt. The short answer is no it doesnt include freedom for all parents to be free from financial burdens. Using the word 'freedom' to describe both conceprs/ideals/principles is unhelpful as these are two very different things.

@oidel_edu @JamesStanfield1 Definitely a very good paper. A lot of similarity with discussions during the making of art 33 of the Italian constitution. My question is: is the "prior right to choose the kind of education" inclusive of freedom from financial burdens (fees) on families?
