What the hell is going on here? The NY/NJ World Cup Host Committee took $50 million from New Jersey taxpayers, bought 1,000 tickets at full price, then turned around and sold them for $50 to New Yorkers. New Jersey families paid the bill, New Yorkers got the bargain. And the person chairing this committee is New Jersey’s former First Lady. At some point, this stops being incompetence and starts looking like contempt for New Jersey taxpayers.

@PATHTrain "ALL Friday late night service will operate every 20 minutes" Can you please define how "all" excludes one of your two lines?

@PATHTrain Every single announcement up until you posting this said that 20 minutes frequency would apply to both lines. This is inexcusable.

Apologies for the confusion, James. To clarify, the new 20-minute Friday night service only applies to the JSQ-33 via HOB line, not the NWK-WTC line. That is why you may see the updated schedules reflected for the JSQ-33 via HOB line, but not for NWK-WTC. You can find more details in the May 15 press release here: panynj.gov/port-authority…

$80 was too damn high to be charging for a bus ride to the World Cup. We stepped in to bring ticket prices down and saved 20% of them exclusively for New Yorkers. Thousands of fans have already booked their spot on our reduced-priced shuttle buses. Get yours today!

Hi, James. Yes, Friday night service improvements begins tonight. I'm unable to view your image, but the schedules are updated on our end. Make sure you're app is up to date by tapping the "More" button in the bottom right corner. Scroll to the bottom and tap "Download Latest Data." This should do the trick if you're not seeing the latest schedules.

@survivor_p55372 @Colleenallreds @FWC26NYNJ Hard to in terms of payback for what you get. Train or parking plus ticket plus overpriced beers... And then you sit in a shitty stadium seat? The liberty park one at least was a good park worth visiting

@Jamesinclair @Colleenallreds @FWC26NYNJ To be fair, it's not THAT hard to get to. Walking distance from Newark Penn and it's right on the PATH. I just refuse to pay to go watch a game on a big screen and pay $15 for a pint when I can go to a bar

Just to be clear: The NYNJ host committee - a bistate nonprofit planning a soccer tournament in East Rutherford, NJ - bought 1,000 World Cup tickets at full freight and gave them to New York City to give to their residents for $50. And gave 0 to NJ. northjersey.com/story/news/new…

@Jamesinclair @Colleenallreds The ineptitude of the people in charge at @FWC26NYNJ can't be understated. Put these events on days of games at Metlife, so any huge fan of Norway/France will already be at the match It's truly unbelievable

@survivor_p55372 @Colleenallreds It wasn't moved, the red bull stadium one popped up as a replacement with an endorsement after the fact. Of course no tickets have been sold. It should be free like everywhere else on earth. They make money on beer and food sales

@NJTRANSIT @NJTransit_CA why is there no contingency for NEC? Use tracks A and 5 in Newark and turn trains around. Use the Hoboken waterfront connection. Why is every train between Newark and Trenton (+long branch) stopped for over an hour instead doing anything else?

@NJTRANSIT Instead of your conductor yelling "listen to the announcements" to paying customers asking why we haven't moved for 30 minutes, how about ensuring the speakers work? There were no announcements in car #7642

My guess they held too many hotels rooms, short term rentals are being used and folks banking on last minute deals. Visitors came for CWC last summer, they are coming for the biggest World Cup ever.

A majority of hotels in the 2026 World Cup’s 11 U.S. host cities are reporting underwhelming demand for stays during the tournament, according to new data released by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. More from @HenryBushnell & @AdamCrafton_ bit.ly/4t7LKpn

Philadelphia's Fan Fest is free and open for 39 days. Its train is $2.90 to matches and $0 back. How is the city doing it? The host committee tells me it started fundraising in 2020, and its private funding total will come out to about $60-$65 million. frontofficesports.com/philadelphia-f…

The biggest thing happening behind the scenes in the "expensive lunch" discourse is that Zoomers are eating out at ridiculously high rates. It's a silent assumption for a ton of young people that restaurants are a basic necessity, not an occasional treat.
