New: we will teardown Formula Leopard Ti3 real car In order to conduct in-depth research on the BYD Gen2 blade battery system, CaishenRoad decided to purchase a flash charging version of the BYD Equation Leopard Titanium 3 equipped with this battery. Highlights: 1. The car has the ability to charge 10% -70% SOC in just 5 minutes and reach 97% SOC in 9 minutes. At a low temperature of minus 30 ℃, it only takes 12 minutes to go from 20% -97% SOC. This activity aims to verify the fast charging capability, real endurance, fast charging cooling loss, three electric system coordination, motor and electronic control technology, and battery pack technology of the battery system. Finally, we will disassemble the Gen2 blade battery and conduct a detailed analysis of its materials and performance. Who is interest with this? @LimitingThe @ninokarotta @seti_park @JoeTegtmeyer @SawyerMerritt @Tslachan @electricfelix @TonamiPlayman @GuteslaX @yalcinarsan @teslamag @agroasx @_SFTahoe @tesla_ava @rememberlenny @DoluBatarya @_SFTahoe @TonamiPlayman

FAILURE:BYD's flash charging test encountered an accident, and three consecutive flash charging attempts were interrupted. Caishendao officially went to BYD's official 4S store today to pick up the Formula Leopard Titanium 3, which is a new car equipped with a flash charging version of the second-generation blade. The car has attracted much attention for its ultra fast charging capability, which can charge from 10% to 70% SOC in five minutes and from 97% SOC in nine minutes. We charged from 10% to 20% for the first time and exited, charged from 20% to 26% for the second time and exited at 6%, and interrupted again from 26% to 34% for the third time. 4S contacted BYD and said that the charging station is undergoing a software upgrade, so we have to wait until they are ready to live stream and experience flash charging again. After all charging and endurance tests, we will disassemble the motor, electronic control, battery pack, and battery of this car. Subscribe to us and watch the follow-up disassembly report.

BREAKING: ASSB may come earlier Today, I accidentally received news that BYD's 400Wh/kg SSB has passed the vehicle level certification. So I also checked the progress of CATL's solid-state batteries. It was found that CATL's 500Wh/kg ASSB has also recently passed the automotive grade certification of China Automotive Research Institute. Based on the upcoming launch event of CATL's heavyweight battery technology in Beijing on April 21st, CaishenRoad has reason to believe that CATL will release this ASSB. It's incredible that CATL' high specific energy battery is actually an ASSB, which is even more radical than what I predicted a few days ago. Oh my God, is the era of solid state batteries really coming? @LimitingThe

@help_cookies BYD Gen2 blade cell is good enough currently, but we also need to more high dencity cell to make us fly into the sky, BYD Gen2 too heavy. Subscribe to me, we are dismantling the BYD Formula Leopard Titanium 3, which is equipped with BYD's Gen2 blades.

@Jamesma1109 500Wh/kg at production scale would shift EV economics meaningfully. The tech is advancing faster than most models capture.

@JimPine8 To pass the vehicle level certification, the cycle must be at least 1200 cycle or more.

@sreesub CATL also has 400Wh/kg solid-state batteries, and their battery technology is more reliable. Of course, BYD is also ambitious.

@Jamesma1109 BYD needs a denser battery for their big/expensive cars. even a semi solid battery with that density will be a huge deal. CATL one I dont think will hit volume production so early. Probably for prototypes testing and may be they will look at EVTOLs before BEV.

I remember back then, Airbus and Boeing planes often struggled with not being able to release their landing gear, thinking about how dangerous it was. But now, are there no similar problems anymore. The progress of technology is spiraling upwards, and I believe that batteries will continue to improve.

@Jamesma1109 Another effort multiplied by 20, we will not be far from the energy density of oil. Otherwise question thermal runaway, fire, how is it?

@CRudinschi The key is safety and cost. However, I believe that batteries will continue to improve, and green travel is not a dream.

@PTrubey Yes, the road to application is still long. After all, the materials and equipment are not mature enough, and the yield is also a problem. Of course, my biggest concern is still safety. Actually, whether it's all solid state or not is secondary.

@Jamesma1109 Yes, but it’ll be expensive, at least initially. I wouldn’t expect it to be used in cars for *at least* a year, likely more.

@Jamesma1109 All-solid-state, according to Chinese standard is below 0.5w-% of volatile components. news.metal.com/newscontent/10… So there might be just enough liquid on cathode side still, which I believe there is, and just lithium anode. AN AMAZING FEAT ANYHOW! 2030 was my own bet.

Exclusive: CATL Liyang factory is currently mass producing 4680 specification batteries CaishenRoad has received news that CATL battery cell factory (Jiangsu CATL) located in Liyang is conducting pilot production of 4680 specification battery cells. And we are sending samples to car manufacturers including Tesla and BMW. At present, the 46 large cylindrical batteries produced in China are mainly in the specifications of 4695 and 46120. The 4680 specification is currently only used by Tesla EVs. Based on this, Tesla may have plans to produce EVs in China equipped with CATL 4680 battery packs. Surprisingly, BMW is also accepting samples of 4680 batteries. The Cathode electrode of the 4680 battery is made of 9-series high nickel ternary material, and the Anode electrode is made of silicon carbon anode electrode material. Electrode production is still a traditional wet process. What do you think about this? @LimitingThe

@phascogaly Yes, tabless. The 46 cylinder is naturally designed for large capacity ternary systems. Otherwise, in the case of large-scale installation of LFP cell, high-capacity prismatic batteries will have no way out.

@Jamesma1109 Those laser welds indicate “tabless”. Correct? That’s required for heat dissipation via current collector foil, esp 5C charging. CATL known for LFP, nickel has more thermal runaway issues. What Shanghai vehicles even need nickel’s advantages? I note the Windrose trucks are LFP.
