@AdrianRamsay It’s the 78% tax that’s making it pointless to extract what they have. May a well spend the capital elsewhere in a friendly tax environment.

Last time in Gov, you handed out hundreds of North Sea licences at huge cost and environmental damage, for just 36 days of gas. The idea that giving big oil a blank cheque to drill in the North Sea will lower energy bills is laughable.

1/ The affordability crisis is the number one issue families are facing. That’s why we’re doubling down on our mission for clean power. To give families energy security and lower bills for good. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week👇

Our salt processing plant in runcorn is going bust due to sky high energy costs so we'll import salt even thou we have a never ending quantity of it. It's totally insane! Net zero is destroying all our industry. Criminally reckless.

M&S has accused the Government of driving up energy bills, with CEO Stuart Machin saying taxes and levies now account for more than half of his company's energy costs and have "nothing to do with the price of oil or gas". dailysceptic.org/2026/03/27/ms-…

The battery capacity to provide Britain with 2 weeks of electricity during winter would cost more than £2tn. Which is 20x the cost of building enough nuclear power stations to provide all the UK's electricity needs.
William Oakley@WillTatton

@Jimmyrinse1 @MorganE07969703 @7Kiwi Batteries are a really cheap way to benefit the grid, but I'm just talking about being able to move power efficiently so we don't have to turn off perfectly good wind farms. Did you really expect our grid built in the 60s to last forever?

Just been quoted £1.40/l for red diesel - more than double what we paid in December and far closer to the derv price - who is making money out of this? It’s certainly not me!

@ShankaMonad @AnnabelDenham1 @GeoffNorcott They nearly all leave school having never done a days work. 30 years ago kids had part time jobs from 13/14 and so had an idea what work was all about. Now it’s too hard for employers to give part time jobs to kids before they leave school.

@drlukeevans What about helping the people who work too? More and more it seems I’d be better off not working and getting up at lunch time, having a joint and then a beer, rinse and repeat, What about business and farmers that use oil for heating, crop drying and agricultural use?

I know many people on heating oil will be concerned about limited support from the Govt. This follows Monday's news that the £53m would be for people in low-income households only. I raised this today, and asked about support for people who aren't eligible for the fund 👇 1/2

Masterclass level from Nigel Farage at today's press conference – calmly and brilliantly answering every question, mostly from sneering lefty journalists. No dodging, no waffle, just straight dominance. Who in world politics does it better? Nobody comes close! @Nigel_Farage #ReformUK

The UK economy just flatlined. 0.0% growth in January. Restaurants are cutting back. Pubs are seeing fewer customers. Housebuilding is collapsing. And now another historic British company is gone. Denby Pottery. 217 years of history. Finished. Why? Net Zero policies. Soaring energy costs. Rising employment costs. Relentless pressure on businesses. This is what happens when woke ideology runs the economy. Energy becomes unaffordable. Hiring becomes far riskier. Investment dries up. Then the government acts surprised when growth disappears. Britain isn’t failing by accident. Labour is pricing our own industries out of existence. And once companies like Denby are gone, they don’t come back.
