#UoEPGDEp I have been reflecting on Social Justice this week. I wrote a peom ‘Being me’. I was honoured that it was shown at a lecture this week. I wanted to be anonymous. Now I feel brave enough to share that it was me. I have nothing to fear but an important message to share🌍

Observation week started today in P1 and last Friday when I met the class. A girl made me a heart saying ‘Mr Finlay, a heart for you, keep it in your pocket, to remember us’. It put a smile on my face🙂. Feel very welcomed ✨. Let’s see what this observation week will bring 🙌🏻.

*For someone who felt not seen back when I was going through education * - That is what the sentence was meant to say :)

Inspiring lecture today and for some who felt not seen back when I was going through education. TIE made me reflect on my values as a teacher. I will strive for children to feel seen, accepted, valued for who they are no matter who they are. Through creating mirrors and windows🪟

Another powerful session this morning from Jordan @tiecampaign for our #UoEPGDEp @MorayHouse - delighted that this is our 4th cohort of students to benefit! Can't thank you enough, Jordan and Liam, for your amazing and tireless work to improve life for LGBT young people ❤️

Singing is such an important part of early literacy. Singing nursery rhymes daily develops important phonological skills. Finger rhymes develop coordination and support symbolic representation. Singing should be an essential part of every ELC and early primary day.
Stoneyburn Primary School & ELC@StoneyburnPS

As a team we recognised that we need to sing more than we already do ~ feeling inspired by yesterday’s @wlelc cluster training session we have invited our children and families to share their favourite songs from home @WL_UNCRC @WL_Equity #BeingMe @froebeledin @FroebelTrust

Throwback to Week 2. Micro lessons sharing knowledge and practice. Reflecting on how we felt delivering a lesson and what things make up a good lesson and what is needed within a lesson and how this may look and why we do it ✨
Miss Mackie@MissMackiepgde

Week 2 @MorayHouse spent this afternoon teaching a micro lesson and giving each other feedback. Really interesting points brought up from other perspectives. A lot of self reflection helped us to be open minded to our teaching🦋 #UoEpgdep #pgdeprimary

Also I was very touched by the encouragement of the lecturer and how she made me feel that my thoughts and reflection was valid and that I had nothing to feel embarrassed about. She gave me the confidence I needed. I am glad I chose to do my PGDE at UofE✨

I am aware this is open to interpretation and questioning. The exciting thing about the world of literature. I wanted to convey a message of how ‘being me’ is not just about fitting into a mold but actually having a sense of belong, an acceptance for who you are ✨
