@boys_nicholas I have a townhouse and I love it. Walkable to town and station etc but as the name would suggest with limited parking.

A key point. Townhouses (terraced houses in 🇬🇧) are perfect gentle density, gifting private homes & gardens but at twice or more of density of detached homes gifting walkable shops, streets & schools. They need texture, sense of place & variety in a pattern to appeal
Matthew Yglesias@mattyglesias

Modern townhouse projects take advantage of the efficient nature of this building typology, but tend not to recreate what makes historic townhouse *neighborhoods* appealing.

@activetraveleng @LilianGreenwood @transportgovuk @Chris_Boardman @ukhomeoffice @livingstreets Just going to leave this here and ask yourselves why is it blind peoples safety and accessibility is optional when it comes to designing floating bus stops in cycle lanes in bus stops? Why were concerns raised ignored in the new Bus Services Bill 2025?
NFBUK@NFBUK

How it started this week. Our brilliant team @newdawn75 @InclusiveBuild handed in our petition to get the Bus Services (No2) Bill aligned with BS 8300-1 Section on Bus Stops 'Pedestrians should have access to & from the bus stop without crossing cycle routes' @10DowningStreet

Today, Active Travel England has announced a new programme to help councils design streets that are safer for women and girls. 9 in 10 women have felt unsafe walking at night. Designing streets that feel safe isn’t optional – it’s essential. Read more: activetravelengland.gov.uk/news/nationwid…

@SkyNews @Chesh Town & Parish councils can increase their take by what they like as there are no restrictions. I am in the same council tax band as my sister but I pay £113 a year more even though we are in the same local authority just in different towns.

Sky's @Chesh has been to Windsor and Maidenhead, where council tax is going up by 7.5%, and neighbouring Slough where it is going up by the standard 5%. This is the postcode lottery behind new council tax rises

I heard reports of second-tier universities from far-flung parts of the country claiming thousands of students - mainly from outside the UK - are studying in office buildings in London So I went to have a look - video below I’m concerned these international students using “London campuses” are using study to get a visa

Freedom can also be lost little by little, by what the Fabians call the doctrine of gradualness. A little more taxation here, a little more government expenditure there, year after year until the people are no longer the masters of the state but its servants. There are always, it seems, good reasons advanced for the state to have more power. But rarely for the state to divest itself of power. Each new problem becomes an excuse for more government intervention and less individual responsibility.

Staggered at this apparent ‘advice’ 👇 to ‘be nice’ and to flatter male predators from @BTP and @TfL. Yes, women will do what they can to survive a threatening situation with a man. But that will then be used against them in court as evidence of their ‘consent’.
Lily Maynard@LilyLilyMaynard

Not really sure where to begin with this weird poster on London Transport. Who is meant to be saying what to who? Another spectacularly pointless piece of useless virtue signalling from @TfL

@ChimeraX2021 @e1duchess Things have tipping points many simply won’t pay £4 or £5 for a coffee the result being there is then no revenue. Back to taking your own thermos flask.

Blinking heck. £19 entry ticket for Beatrix Potter’s house. £16 for the Wordsworth Museum. My daughter is currently on a short break in the beautiful Lake District but the price of everything is through the roof. She realised that it was going to be a pricey holiday when she was charged FIVE ENGLISH POUNDS for a takeaway coffee at Oxenholme station. Luckily the weather is good so she is going to make the most of the stunning landscape but that’s not the point . Ordinary Brits are being priced out of their own heritage and it makes me a little cross. It’s no wonder that Britons are going abroad for their holidays when everything in the UK is so expensive. Once you factor in train travel and accommodation there is precious little left for exorbitant museum entry tickets .

Is it any wonder people avoid buying flats, fire safety/insurance issues, unfair service charges, greater awareness of leasehold issues not to mention anti social behaviour not addressed in some areas.
Peter Bill@peterproperty

Tel (£) “demand for these flats has collapsed. Nearly 40pc of flats built and bought in Wandsworth since 2010 were sold at a loss in the last five years.” All you need to do is look at the pictures and then also imagine the service charges. telegraph.co.uk/money/property…

@doctor_rahmeh We don’t care how expensive Gail’s croissants are or if it’s gentrification. We don’t care if it’s owned by Israelis. This is a free country and people have the right to sell fucking bread without having their windows put in.
