This is what our President who is blind said about the bus stop design where you step off the bus onto a narrow bus boarder next to a cycle lane on Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest ‘Not fit for purpose. It really is totally inaccessible. These sorts of designs should be scrapped’

@andyburnham Big problem Andy is that accessibility for blind people at bus stops is the same where ever you go. This is why floating bus stops will not work. Just because you allowed them in Greater Manchester does not mean you can ignore this issue.

More research will not make floating bus stops safe or accessible. @LordBlunkett needs to make urgent amends on this, as what he did was unforgivable.

.@LordBlunkett are you keeping quite on this? You had a chance to protect the safety & accessibility of blind people at bus stops where new cycle lanes are planned. But you knew better than anyone else & chose an amendment which does not protect blind people in these situations.

.@LordBlunkett how is this scheme possibly going ahead in Colchester? Routing a cycle lane onto a pavement which is then renamed to become shared space pavement behind a bus stop going down hill next to doctor’s surgery?

Wondering what tomorrow will bring from @andyburnham and his social media team 🤔. Ignoring the issue of floating bus stops does not mean it will go away. It will just get worse.

@BrisLibDems @BristolCouncil Thank you for highlighting this. @BristolCouncil that really needs cutting back please to stop it being a hazard to blind and visually impaired people.

@BristolCouncil, it’s the school holidays at the moment but could this shrubbery near Langton Court Road Bridge be cut back before school restarts? The pavement is narrow and there is no pavement on the other side of the road.
