@fugitiveink Don’t feel dented dear Barendina. If it wasn’t for niche and specific I fear we’d all be reading the same books, visiting the same (much visited) places - and there would only be the general knowledge round on Mastermind.

I am trying not to mind that someone dear to me always laughingly dismisses my attempts at historical research as "niche" and "very specific", as if this somehow rendered them automatically ridiculous and without merit — but it's not really working. Onward and upward, eh?

2. Like so many major churches and cathedrals they are entirely not set up for people wanting to pray. It took forever to find the one chapel set aside for prayer, and then we got told off for trying to say evening prayer. It is literally the core purpose of a church!

The Cathedral in the former Mosque in Cordoba is quite astounding. I’ve never seen anything like it. Don’t really know how to describe it. Two thoughts:

Just a quick update on this grumpy-looking stray tomcat. He's now been to the vet. As expected, he's an entire tom, perhaps five years old, with no microchip. He has ticks, fleas and possibly worms, but is otherwise in decent shape. If no one comes forward to claim him in the next week, we can move forward with neutering him. His name is Toby the Tabby.
