Politics aside I like you Ron and I enjoy your post. They are much better than most things on the TV.
First, I'm with you on the architecture. MCM is ugly. I'm more of a craftsman or country style guy although I live in a concrete Spanish style home built for hurricanes.
Second, I am a post war child of the sixties too. That said I was never into the counterculture thing. My peace, love and happiness come mostly from family, friends, outdoors and faith. Now my wife was a flower child right down to her embroidered bell bottoms. She still gives me hell for supporting the current nut job we have as president.
She (the wife I call her, and it pisses her off) bitches often about the condition of the world and mankind in general. My view is that things are great. In fact, things
have never been better from a quality-of-life standpoint. Be a hippie if you like but count your blessing if you were born in the United States of America in the 20th century. I know I do.
Two questions. Number one. Am I the only person who thinks that 'mid-century modern' is *ugly*? And number two. I was, and still am, a hippy. Woodstock, lived in a commune - the whole package. I believe in peace, respecting others, being kind whenever possible, respecting the environment...all those traits that some folks sneer at, calling them the dreaded "W" label. How did all my fellows who held hands around campfires and sang Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In and actually *believed* that it was going to happen...that we were going to be the generation who would bring about peace and love and all that - how did we raise a generation of people who seem to have forgotten all those gentle feelings and now seem so full of hate, prejudice, and selfishness? I thought our kids would carry on in the same vein and finish what we hoped we'd started. What happened? ( Not inviting abuse, ridicule, or anger, just... other peoples' thoughts about the subject. )
You want to fix education?
Teach kids how to fail and try again. Resilience is not built by removing every obstacle. It is built by hitting the wall and figuring out what comes next.
The most powerful people in college sports aren't the commissioners.
It's the network executives writing the checks.
So here's my question:
Why do Sankey and Petitti have to face the fans, coaches, presidents, media, and lawmakers while guys like Eric Shanks and Jimmy Pitaro stay behind the curtain?
If television is driving the future of college football, why don't we ever hear what THEY want the sport to become?
What's their vision?
What's their endgame?
And what do they believe college football should look like 10 years from now?
Funny how the people with the most influence rarely have to answer the questions.

Guys, I know this will attract trolls, but I’m actually genuinely asking. My 86yo father who is not in great health wants to go to Orlando to see his 84yo brother who is in really bad health, probably for the last time. A multi-day road trip would be too much wear and tear for my dad. I cannot afford private flying. Anybody got recommendations on navigating an 86yo through multiple airports when he can’t walk great? Like, how do people get the wheel chair assistance and can they wheel him through to a rental car etc? And how do you handle an intermediate airport a we’d probably have to go Baton Rouge to Atlanta to Orlando. Never done this and old age can suck.
And yes, this would be a reunion between Erick and Lief Erickson. May the Vikings rise again.
Tardlov is crying because murderers and child r*pists aren't getting their preferred ethnic meals while being detained 🤡
"It's not Epcot, it's an ICE FACILITY"
Fucking moron
@TodayOnMyMind_ On the flip side…
I love when Greg, Kayleigh, Kelly Ann, Emily, Joey and others call her out and make her look foolish.
It’s so satisfying.
JESSICA TARLOV: On “The Five”, every single time Jessica Tarlov runs her mouth with inaccurate, factually incorrect or outright fabrications…you can hear us turning the channel. FOX, when are you going to listen to you viewers? We make your ratings.
We are TOTALLY FED up with Jessica Tarlov.

@monsterhunter45 Where there is AC (hotels) they keep it on 74! We’re used to 70 daytime and 64 at night. Concierge brought 1 fan. 🥵Hubby had them bring another one. Thank goodness it was our last night in London.
Oh goody. It is Europe whining about America having air conditioning while they drop like flies season again. This is my favorite time of year. (the other continents call it "summer")
This year they seem fixated on American houses being made of wood and how we have tornados?
Because you know, Europeans all live in two thousand year old mud huts and windowless castles that can't accept a window unit, and that somehow makes them morally superior to us, so they can die miserably by the thousands when it hits 78 degrees, while lecturing us smugly about "climate change" the whole time.
I live in a place that's Norway in the winter, Algeria in the summer, five thousand feet higher than the average elevation in the UK, in a house that's so large the average UK home would fit in my office/game room, but please, do go on about how amazing your 800 square foot mud brick shack built after the Blitz is.
Listen, you absolute pussies, if you're that scared of living where there's tornados that's okay. Tornados are like a warning sign God put up saying you're not tall enough to ride this ride. That's why our ancestors came here and yours stayed to decay there.
A couple generations ago the UK used to be our peer. Now they've got the per capita GDP of Mississippi, there's only 5 UK companies in the global top 100, it took them a month to get their one functioning destroyer out of dock (and it promptly broke a week later), and they're menaced by the rape gangs their government imported and protected. You'd think there would be some self-awareness exercised in there somewhere, but nope. It's all hubris. America sucks because our average house (which is about 3x bigger than the UK's, only its insulated and has air conditioning) is made of wood. Oooh sick burn. We also put ice in our water. GASP.
I just saw some Brit bragging about how he had a pub in his neighborhood older than America. Cool. The guys who built that pub would be ashamed of what's become of you, while their descendents who weren't scared of tornados moved here. Then he bragged his house was two hundred years old and would be standing in two hundred more! Sure, but living in it will be five dudes named Achmed and their twenty wives.
For the record I don't hate the British. I like most Brits. I just despise your bossy weenie socialists who want you to live like fucking peasants to sacrifice on behalf of global warming, and those are the ones who mouth off on X all day. I'm actually rooting for you normal sane Brits to continue overthrowing your shitty labor government in the hopes you can move into the modern air conditioned world with the rest of us.
So anyways, happy summer. Try not to die.
Clearly and simply explaining instructions to a classroom of middle school students is one of the most intellectually challenging tasks of the modern world.
#Retired from public education today. I spent 33 years as a teacher and administrator in rural Ohio. Proud of the work I did. Looking forward to some relaxation, recreation, and vacation.
@TheBigBroTea Jeff’s woke suckiness has ruined Survivor. Sandra was a good player, as was Tony! I’m sure if you compare the ratings back then to now they’ll tell the story
Jeff Probst says villains like Sandra and Tony are a thing of the past and they aren’t casting those types anymore. Jeff says “We aren’t looking for a**holes to play Survivor” #survivor
