Student loan repayments have become a scam. You work hard but you get "rewarded" with high interest rates. How is that fair? @Conservatives will reduce interest rates for hundreds of thousands of graduates. That's just Step 1 in our New Deal for Young people.

📝NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK 📝 Spread the word, apprenticeships rock! Britain has huge amounts of potential and as we look to the future, apprenticeships will be so important in helping out future generations unlock their talent. As a nation we need to recommit to turbo-charging apprenticeship uptake. I am proud Conservatives oversaw the creation of 5.5 million apprenticeships when in government. Now too many people end up in degrees with too much debt and no realistic prospects of jobs at the end. Apprenticeships are a real opportunity in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. We will always stand up for our future generations 🇬🇧 Read more here feweek.co.uk/britain-needs-…

Business rates are choking our high streets. Bills are soaring, jobs going, and businesses are being told to just wait and hope. That uncertainty is killing pubs, shops, cafes and hotels. The Chancellor must act now. My words in today’s @Telegraph 👇🏻

Thank you to everyone who backed me at this by-election. We fell short by 23 votes. Congratulations to Reform on their victory. Well done to every candidate involved in the by-election, without whom democracy does not work. So, cheers for standing.

This Labour u-turn would not have happened without Andrew Griffith and @Conservatives in the House of Lords working together, relentlessly exposing the terrible measures in this bill. We were the only party mobilising business and workers against it. Very proud of my team! ⭐️
Andrew Griffith MP@griffitha

This is a huge U-Turn after Conservatives defeated the Government in the Lords. It's a relief for businesses, but make no mistake: this Bill is still not fit for purpose. It still means more strikes, fewer jobs, a banter ban, union right to roam businesses, and lower growth.

There is a by-election in Long Eaton where I live and have previously represented. I have been asked to stand and I am now the @Conservatives candidate. My principles of sound economics, cultural revival and flourishing local communities will be at the heart of my campaign.

The (Un)Employment Rights Bill will slash growth and hurt businesses. Imperial Econ professor and recent @bankofengland MPC member @HaskelEcon said today this bill should not go ahead. There is no point in changing employment law if you can’t get a job in the first place.

The man has no shame. 🔵 🚌 In Government @Conservatives introduced the £2 bus fare then extended it 🔵 🚌 Our manifesto was clear (I know because I fought for its inclusion), we would keep it for the whole of the 5 years if we were elected 🥀 One of Labour’s first things was to raise it by 50% from £2 to £3 🥀 Now Labour won’t even guarantee that will stay in place until the end of this Parliament The people who benefitted from the £2 bus fare are the strivers, the Brits who get up and do the right thing, off to earn or learn, but where everyone in the family doesn’t have access to their own private transport Getting rid of this policy was one of the clearest signs that Labour had turned its back on working Britain
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

Our Plan for Change is about putting working people first. The £3 bus fare cap has already cut costs for families. We’re extending it — making travel simpler, cheaper and better for everyone.

Inflation up yet again. Labour’s choices to tax jobs and ramp up borrowing are pushing up costs and stoking inflation. And the Chancellor is gearing up to do it all over again in the autumn. Families are paying the price for Rachel Reeves’ economic mismanagement.

Business confidence even worse than during Covid, according to a survey of 4000 businesses by BDO accountants. Firms were “holding back on recruitment” as a result of the national insurance rise, which added £20 billion a year to employers’ costs.   Business confidence also fell in June compared with May and was “underwhelming”, the accounting firm said after polling 4,000 companies. The prospect of further tax rises in the autumn budget was adding to the weak sentiment, it said. All due to the Chancellor’s choices.
