Barnsley. What a town. I visited for the first yesterday to film a report for tonight’s News at Ten.
The centre is full of life, the people we met were warm and welcoming and those moors! In the gaps between the buildings you catch glimpses of stunning countryside. #blownaway

@dyson_david @ITVJoel Agreed. I grew up and went to school in Barnsley before leaving in late 80’s. Very proud to be a Barnsley lass but it was pretty grim in the 80’s, as were many other mining towns.

@ITVJoel I am born and raised in Barnsley and it hasn’t always been that way but I have to give credit to the council for how they’ve changed it around over the past few years. It is now a nice place to visit and its reputation of the past as a dirty coal mining town is no longer valid

@GaryLineker Was at Niagara Falls that day. Mates taped it all on VHS. Avoided the score ALL DAY. Got the tapes. Cars driving around with german flags & honking horns back in Toronto so guessed we’d lost. Still watched it all ‘as live’ as didn’t know how we’d lost. Gutted 🙈😟
