The moment you finally realise you’re leading the most authoritarian government in our country’s history: 1️⃣ Introducing an official definition of “anti-Muslim hostility” that silences legitimate criticism of religion — 18 years after Parliament abolished such laws. 2️⃣ Removing the right of most defendants to have a jury trial, in the biggest assault on English liberty in over 800 years. 3️⃣ Requiring pub landlords to monitor customers’ private conversations to protect staff from remarks, comments, or jokes they may find “offensive”. 4️⃣ Clamping down on lawful social media posts, arresting an Irish comedian for gender-critical tweets and even threatening to ban access to X in the UK. It’s not a great look, is it, Prime Minister…

I will summarise advice obtained from a legally eminent friend: The use of armed force by US/Israeli against Iran is lawful under the terms of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and was lawful before that Resolution was passed under UN Charter Article 51 (self defence). It is arguably lawful for a state to declare that: · a terrorist attack comprises and armed attack which triggers Article 51, · another state is developing a nuclear weapon, there is a real risk that it would use it and negotiation has not been able to stop development. In the context of modern weaponry that would be sufficient to trigger Article 51even if the development of nuclear weapons is not complete. · a state sponsoring terrorism on a large scale around the world is a party to an armed attack and that is sufficient to trigger Article 51 so that the victim states may use force in self defence against that sponsor. Iran is a rogue state which has exported terrorism around the world. In particular it has sponsored Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis in their aim to destroy Israel. It preaches hatred against Israel, the USA and western liberal democracies and is a constant threat to peace and security. If it were to obtain a nuclear weapon there is no doubt that it would use it, or threaten to use it, for its own malign purposes, or export terror and extrem violence under the umbrella afforded by its nuclear weapons. The US and Israel’s action to destroy Iran’s ability to continue their policy against the west was and is lawful initially in self defence under UN Article 51 and now under UNSCR 2817.

@DrChrisParry Could you do us the favour of summarising those justifications? I for one would be interested to hear it.

From Mustafa Ezzarghani Stop telling Israel to “choose peace” while you refuse to confront Hamas and the Iranian regime that make peace impossible. I am a Moroccan Muslim. And I will say this clearly: the hypocrisy has gone too far. There is a comfortable illusion spreading across the West — that this war is the result of “both sides,” that it can be solved with dialogue circles, that peace is just a mindset waiting to be activated. That illusion collapses the moment you face reality. Reality has a sound. It sounds like Hamas rockets. It sounds like Israeli sirens. It sounds like families running for their lives. And yet, people sit comfortably thousands of miles away blaming Israel for defending itself, while refusing to name the forces driving this violence. Let’s be honest. This is not a symmetrical conflict. On one side, you have a state — Israel — trying to protect its citizens. On the other, you have Hamas, an organization that openly calls for the destruction of Israel and the killing of Jews. Behind Hamas stands the Iranian regime, funding, arming, and spreading this ideology across the region — from Gaza to Lebanon through Hezbollah, to militias in Iraq and beyond. So when you say “choose peace,” I ask: Who exactly are you asking? Are you asking Hamas to abandon its charter of destruction? Are you asking Iran’s leadership to stop exporting violence? Or are you only asking Israel to stand down and absorb the attacks? Because too often, the answer is obvious. I come from Morocco — a country where Jews and Muslims lived together for centuries. I believe in coexistence. But I also know history. Nearly a million Jews were expelled or fled from Arab countries in the last century. That did not happen because of “miscommunication.” It happened because hatred was legitimized. And today, we are watching the same pattern being ignored again. Many peace activists will show you images of coexistence — Arabs and Jews walking together, sharing spaces, living side by side. These moments are real. But they avoid the harder truth: coexistence cannot survive when one side is taught that the other must disappear. You cannot build peace with Hamas while it glorifies October 7. You cannot negotiate peace with a regime in Tehran that calls Israel a “cancer” to be removed. You cannot “activate peace” while ignoring indoctrination, terror networks, and state-sponsored violence. This is not about feelings. This is about reality. Evil is real. And history has taught us what happens when the world refuses to confront it early. From Nazi Germany to today’s Middle East, the pattern is always the same: denial, appeasement, and then tragedy. Peace without confronting evil is not peace. It is surrender. And no nation — not Israel, not any country — can be expected to surrender its right to exist. Some wars are tragic. Others are necessary. When a country is attacked, when its civilians are murdered, when its existence is openly threatened — defending itself is not warmongering. It is survival. I say this as a Muslim: peace — salam, shalom — is not the absence of war. It is the presence of justice, truth, and security. It comes after you confront what is broken, not before. I have friends in places like Iraq who live under the shadow of Iranian-backed militias. They are not talking about “activating peace.” They are hoping the world will finally confront the forces that have trapped them for decades. So no — do not lecture Israel about peace while ignoring Hamas and Iran. Real peace will come. But it will only come when the truth is spoken clearly, when responsibility is named honestly, and when the world finds the courage to confront those who stand in the way of peace. Until then, slogans mean nothing. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 I’m launching my new podcast: Subscribe to my YouTube channel and hit the notification bell so you don’t miss the first episode. @ezzarghani?si=WWf9qEfYYmXxOS3T" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@ezzarghani?si…

I’m just going to say this — had Mexican soldiers invaded across the USA’s southern border on 10/7/2023 to rape and murder their way across part of Texas, then paraded the corpses of dead, naked American women around like trophies for the Mexican civilian population to spit on, by 10/7/2024, Mexico as an independent country would have ceased to exist — and no one would have said a word in protest. No one tells non-Jewish nations that they must turn the other cheek after acts of war. Only Israel is expected to meekly bury her dead; only Jews are supposed to constantly mourn, but never to retaliate; to accept butchery and brutality and bombings as the price they must pay for mere existence — and it has far less to do with Palestinian lives than it does with the age-old European conviction that Jews only exist so that the rest of society has someone to abuse.

Melika Azizi is 18 years old. The regime wants her dead because she isn't afraid of them. While the world slept, they raided her home. While they beat her in Lakan Prison, she held her head high. When the judge handed down a death sentence, she didn't beg for her life—she demanded justice for the fallen. "How can I stay silent?" she asked. We cannot be the ones who stay silent while they try to hang a teenager for her bravery. Silence is a death sentence. Noise is a lifeline. ACT NOW: Save this post. Share it. Tag three friends who will help spread her name. We have to make the cost of executing her higher than the cost of letting her go. #MelikaAzizi #SaveMelika #StopExecutionsInIran #HumanRights

I was trying to explain to someone yesterday why women defend single-sex spaces. “Imagine you were forced into an enclosed space with a strange man and told to take your top off in front of him. No choice. No opting out.” “That’s different,” they said. “That’s basically sexual assault.” “Exactly,” I replied. “Now imagine the man is wearing women’s clothes - but you still know he’s a man.” You could literally see the penny drop. This is the grown-up version of being plied with cider at a party, shoved into a cupboard with a boy - then being told you’re frigid if you don’t do what he wants. Only now, frigid has been replaced with bigot.

Imagine being Iranian and this once in a lifetime opportunity comes to rise up and take back your freedom. Then you realize that the nations of Europe and the rest of the world don't care. In fact, to keep gas prices low, they are willing to leave you oppressed. That your only hope lies with the people liberating you, who you've been told are worst enemies of your people. Campaign Against Antisemitism
Campaign Against Antisemitism@antisemitism·
This is a big deal. Home Office figures obtained through freedom of information requests have shown that hate crimes against Muslims are almost twice as likely to result in prosecution than those against Jews. Despite Jewish people being some ten times more likely to suffer hate crime, according to our analysis of Home Office policing figures, this new data shows that around one in fifteen anti-Muslim crimes were prosecuted (which is poor) but only one in 26 anti-Jewish crimes were prosecuted (which is appalling). The discrepancy between prosecution rates is so shameful that one begins to wonder if there is not more to it. For a decade, we have called on the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to publish a breakdown of hate crime prosecutions. Following our engagement, Directors of Public Prosecutions (who lead the CPS) have repeatedly promised Home Secretaries that they would do so, but never did. Now we can see why. As we knew but could never conclusively show while figures were kept secret, prosecutions for antisemitic hate crimes are woeful. Every time a major antisemitism case is dropped, the CPS does damage control in the Jewish community, insisting that there are many other cases that are prosecuted. At CAA, we always knew that this was untrue. So did the overwhelming majority of British Jews. Our polling has shown that only 7% of British Jews think that the CPS does enough to protect British Jews; 76% do not. Only one in ten British Jews is confident that if they reported an antisemitic hate crime, it would be prosecuted, with 77% believing that it would not, even if there is enough evidence. That is damning. This is an unacceptable failure by the criminal justice system that has been overlooked for too long, and now, at a time of unprecedented levels of antisemitism in our country, it can no longer be tolerated. The CPS must now finally publish these figures and must explain to the Jewish community and the wider public what urgent and drastic steps it proposes immediately to take to address this scandal. thetimes.com/article/169b92…

“More than 6500 rapes and sexual assaults - some against children under 13 - have been committed in hospitals in England and Wales over nearly four years   Only 265 people (4.1 per cent) are known to have been charged for these offences.  Despite the fact that hospitals are closely monitored by CCTV and wards often have secure entry systems, only 4.1 per cent are known to have resulted in a charge or summons. Five forces – City of London, Durham, Devon and Cornwall, Northamptonshire and North Yorkshire – did not issue a single summons or charge a single suspect for any of the 334 sexual assaults in their areas.” womensrights.network/hospital-report

If you claim to be an activist but:  - defend Hezbollah   - cheer for Hamas   - support the Houthis   - applaud the regime in Iran You are not standing with the people of the Middle East. You are standing with terrorist organizations whose sole goal is to murder Jews. You are not a human rights activist, you are an antisemite.

If you tell women to change their behaviour to avoid being raped, what you’re really saying is, “make sure he rapes the other girl instead.” There will always be a woman who is more vulnerable less sober, less confident, with fewer friends around her, or walking alone in a darker part of town. She deserves to be safe just as much as I do. Safety shouldn’t depend on which woman was easier to target that night. The problem isn’t women’s behaviour. The problem is men who choose to commit rape as an act of violence.

Labour’s Islamophobia definition will suppress free speech even more than we expected. This Government hasn’t had many achievements — but the one thing it does seem good at is eroding our right to free speech. This week, the Communities Secretary published the long-awaited official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility” — and announced a new Islamophobia tsar. While the Secretary of State claimed it will not have a chilling effect on free speech, it is blindingly obvious that it will. Within 45 minutes of announcing the definition, pro-Gaza independent MP Iqbal Mohamed asked whether it could be incorporated into the Seven Principles of Public Life, which all MPs, as public servants, are expected to abide by. He was essentially asking whether MPs could be sanctioned for their speech in the House if it were deemed to be “anti-Muslim hostility”. Rather than remind the MP that everything said in the House of Commons and House of Lords is protected by parliamentary privilege, the Secretary of State said Iqbal was “right to point to the huge concern we should all share” about parliamentarians being “Islamophobic”. That will silence debate on matters such as the grooming gangs scandal and Islamist extremism. Following the publication of the definition, the Muslim Women Network UK issued a statement welcoming it and signalling how busy the new tsar will be. It read: “Approximately 4,000 incidents are reported annually and as 80 per cent are not reported, the actual figures are more likely to be 20,000 hate crime incidents. These numbers do not even include discrimination in the workplace or when accessing services.” We should probably point out that Baroness Gohir — who was a member of the now infamous Working Group tasked with drafting the definition — runs this organisation. She may well have her eyes on the new role as the “anti-Muslim hostility tsar”. While the definition is non-statutory, once it is adopted by public bodies it will likely be enforced zealously. It will become the new non-crime hate incident (NCHI). Even without an official definition, we effectively already had a cultural definition of Islamophobia. Employees across many sectors — as well as university students — are already closely monitored for the slightest signs of “Islamophobia”. Things will only get worse. The Free Speech Union currently has at least a dozen open cases involving members who’ve said something Muslims have taken offence at. Let’s be honest: this is a Muslim blasphemy law via the back door — 18 years after Parliament voted to abolish such laws. The Free Speech Union is launching a legal challenge against the Government’s decision because we believe it is unlawful. This is one of the most important fights we’ve taken on in our six-year existence. Most people don't know that in the UK, registered sex offenders can legally change their names. This loophole lets predators hide, evade checks, and puts vulnerable people at risk. I am in support of the full closure of this loophole for all registered sex offenders.  Current measures aren't comprehensive/enforceable enough (offenders can still change names with limited oversight and gaps in DBS/Sarah's Law/Clare's Law effectiveness). @DellasLaw is fighting to change this loophole. 📍 Please follow, share and support the cause.
