“What can I do to prime the nervous system before pitching?” Elastics. Easy elastic band on the pitching arm (focus Inside Scap & Inside 90). All out coiled compression with the elastic ball (short: 1! 2! 3!) with the glove arm. Nothing creates more “urgency” than elastics. Charges the nervous system like nothing else. Stretch bands. Compress balls. So simple. So effective.

I’m a firm believer that dominant players of the past would have still been dominant players today. But to say the game isn’t what it used to be is ludicrous. Can you imagine someone like Dennis Eckersley being able to see what another players changeup spins like, grip, exact metrics, and letting him go after it? There’s zero guesswork now. You literally have the answers to the test in front of you and how to do it. You still have to execute but you no longer have to guess

First off , I would love to see this happen. But: 1. Is it possible to actually play for zero dollars when there is a union and labor laws? Would you have to get paid and then give the money back/donate it to their foundation? Donating would probably be the move from a fan perspective. 2. Since baseball is not golf, where you can qualify yourself if you beat the field, how do we know the teams will put you in the big leaguers? Especially if they aren’t trying to win? Every year there are players in AAA out performing their big league team pitchers without a call up.

Hypothetical: You’re the owner of an MLB team. I offer to take $0 salary and sign a minor league contract and go to Low A. If the “he sucks now” crowd is right and I get lit up, you cut me, lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. If the “clubhouse cancer” crowd is right, you see it immediately at Low A and cut me. You lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. If there’s massive negative PR, which we already know there won’t be, you just cut me and move on. The story is dead in a couple days, you lose $0, and there’s no risk to the big league club. But, assuming none of those things happen, which they obviously wouldn’t, if you like what you see, you can promote me to AA and re evaluate me there. Then AAA. Then the big leagues. If I earn it, which you’d be 100% in control of deciding. If you don’t think I’m good enough, you lose $0 and there’s no risk to the big league club. You could take away my “antics”. You could take away my social media. You could ask anything of me. If I don’t comply, you cut me, lose $0, and there’s no risk to the big league club. What logical reason is there to not do this? At worst, you cut me and there’s no risk to the big league club. At best, you get a Cy Young winner for $0 who you know can still pitch and could help the big league team if and when you see fit.

I remember facing Al Leiter in the Florida State league when he was making a rehab start and I was so excited to get to face a Big Leaguer. Gerrit Cole has already made his fortune and is set for life! This kid is trying to make his and because he hit a HR and a single off of Cole he drills him. What if he seriously injured this kid? If you are a lefty trying to figure out how to hit with the muscles of motor tract 1 this is one of the easiest routines that will allow it to happen…. **This works for softball players too**

The routine is huge. And maybe it sets a bad precedent. If you are intentionally not throwing your number one day one, however, you do know where you stand against the league from a Pitching standpoint. If you really wanted to get aggressive, just throw your ace every Sunday. It’s almost a guaranteed win. Bullpens on Sunday are also the most fatigued and stressed.

@JaredDWilson I've always wondered this and assumed nobody did it because maybe they're not the underdog every week and they don't want the weekend guys to have to pitch a different day every weekend. How important is it for a college weekend starter to go the same day every week?

To this day I wonder why the underdog teams in a college series don’t throw their Number 3 starter on Friday, number 1 on Saturday and Number 2 on Sunday. Throwing your number 1 vs another teams number 1 is way too risky from a win loss standpoint. But if your #3 has a good day, it would neutralize the other teams #1. Your #1 has a better chance of beating the other teams #2 than their #1 and your #2 has a better chance of beating their #3
