Nov. 30, 2023 is a day I will never forget — it’s the day I tore my ACL. It was the day before I was supposed to play in the ECNL Tennessee National Selection Game. This is my first post since that day (my injury happened hours before I was going to post the first picture). For some people, they find strength in encouragement from others. For me, my road to recovery has been deeply personal and spiritual. I turned inward and upward — relying on my own personal drive, the love of my mom, dad and family and most importantly, my faith in God and his perfect love and support. Since Dec. 4, 2023, I have spent every day (except for Sundays) in either prehab, surgery or rehab. Six days a week without fail. It’s a grueling process. There are no shortcuts. There is no other way but through it. And I’m so grateful to @jaedynshaw11 for introducing me to the most incredible PT who, next to my God and family, has been by my side every day — Brandon Browning. Last Monday, at 23 weeks following my surgery, I passed my strength test that let me start the return to play process. I want to thank God for his miracles and his goodness, my parents for their unending love and support, Brandon Browning for continuing to push me every single day, and Coach Rockwood and all the coaches at BYU Women’s Soccer. I would not be here today without them. On July 1, I report to BYU and I have Aug. 15 circled on my calendar — it’s our first non-conference, regular season game against @Wisconsin. Between now and then, I’m doing everything I can to be ready for that day. And while my journey on this path is not yet over, I’m ready to talk about it. Whether you’re the type who thrives off encouragement from others or, like me, more private and personal, I’m in your corner. If my experience or my story can help you in any way or if you just need someone who will listen and can relate, please reach out. I believe God gives us these experiences to both help us grow and to help us help others. If I can help, I want to. And this Father’s Day, I want to send a special thanks to both my Heavenly and earthly fathers who have been by my side every step of the way. They have been my rock every step of the way. This past week was another amazing one but also pretty scary. First, thanks so much 🙏 @ThornsFC for an incredible week where I learned a ton and with such amazing players. And @ProvidencePark_ is a phenomenal place to play and train. #BAONPDX But it was super scary too. On Monday night, my dad ended up in the ER 🚑 here in Portland and then had emergency surgery on Thursday. I can’t say thank you 🙏 enough to @ThornsFC for all their help and support during this experience. My dad ❤️ has always been such an amazing support for me, and it was so scary to see him like that — but I loved how even when he was in a place like the hospital, facing something scary like major surgery, he still found a way to be happy and see the bright side. I’m glad to say the surgery went well, but any and all prayers 🙏 are so appreciated.
