🧵 What a rough night for Nithya Raman. Hasan Piker put the LA mayoral candidate and DSA member through a full-on struggle session over her record, repeatedly pressing her to explain where she had fallen short of the movement line. And honestly, even as a conservative, I felt bad for her. This was brutal. One flashpoint was a DSA criticism over Raman’s role in a city resolution tied to the UTLA BDS fight. But the exchange was bigger than that. This was not a good-faith interview. It was an ideological audit. Raman mostly tried to answer politically. She came to DSA through housing and homelessness, said this was not her area of expertise, said she had learned more, and promised she was “committed to learning more.” Stick around for more, because by the end of this even Hasan’s chat wanted his head.

@moseskagan Piker is a truly terrible person who said that the US deserved 9/11 and he applauds terrorists. He has no place in the US public eye

Want to be clear that this has nothing to do with Israel. Would be hard for me to care less about a local politician's views on the Middle East. I regard Piker as an anti-American low-life (remember the pro-"micro-looting" interview a few weeks ago), and I can't believe someone who aspires to lead a confident, growing American city would have anything to do with him.

@firstadopter I remember when he went on to pump $GRAB saying it's worth at least $12/share. He also went on to pronounce that he'd sold $GOOG and it was the death of their business model. I like listening to him, but no one is right all the time.

BTW, do not be alarmed While the market for real estate in San Francisco is going absolutely crazy in the $5 to $10 MM range and selling way above expectations right now Below this price point, home prices are business as usual and are elevated, but not any more than the NASDAQ and S&P500 ETC Keep calm and carry on. Yes, it's competitive, but it will be okay.

@StockSavvyShay I've owned Cerebras since early 2024, but I'm not totally confident their product can overcome some technical challenges. Seems like those with technical expertise are skeptical. Doesn't bode well for my shares in six months when lockup expires.

$ARM and SoftBank reportedly attempted to acquire $CBRS but the bid was rejected. It shows how aggressively AI infrastructure players are trying to secure more control over compute, inference and the hardware stack.

@Midnight_Captl @KristinaParts @JunoVero It's pretty simple - he wasn't invited, and then he was invited. That's why Jensen had to fly to Alaska to catch up with Air Force One. Why does reporting facts have to be negative for $NVDA?

Trump is pushing back on reports that Nvidia’s CEO wasn’t originally invited to China. But Huang himself told CNBC on May 7: “If invited, it would be a privilege.” A person familiar with the trip also confirmed to me he had not received an invite until POTUS called him yesterday.

BREAKING: $NVDA CEO is traveling with President Trump to China, a source familiar with the trip confirms. Trump called Huang this morning after seeing through media coverage that he wasn't joining, and asked him to come. Huang flew to Alaska to meet Air Force One and is boarding.

Kevin Xu reveals he lost everything in crypto in 2018, owed the IRS money, then ran up $35,000 in his Google 401K to $10,000,000 and had to quit Google just to withdraw it "I ran like $3,000 to $5,000 up to $300,000 and all the way back down to $30,000 in crypto. All the short term capital gains were captured in 2017 but then I lost everything in Q1 of 2018. I had to ask people for money. Pretty dark period of my life." "I got a stable job at Google in 2019 and pledged to basically be a good boy. Then COVID happened and I had this $35,000 sitting in the 401K that I can't touch for 30 years. I threw it into something and one lucky trade after another it led to a lot." "You're not allowed to take money out of a 401K unless you actually leave the company. If I wanted to buy a new car I literally had no money. I was driving a 2008 Honda Accord with $10,000,000 in my retirement account. So that was partially one of the reasons I quit."

The rent is too damn high in San Francisco. Prices are going up 15% year over year. A one bedroom averaging $3500 a month. This month I'll be introducing an affordability package at the Board of Supervisors. Legislation that will both make it easier to build more housing for new renters to live in, as well as advance rental transparency and eviction protections to make it easier for existing renters to stay here. Follow along in the weeks ahead as we announce each piece of legislation.
