Dear @KCCASpox , it is unfortunate that the photos you share are only posted after flood waters have subsided, yet many people and business owners spend hours struggling to remove water from their buildings to save their properties. People are crying over lost property, damaged businesses, and destroyed belongings, yet this is the response they receive? It is painful for people to see their real experiences dismissed as “AI-generated” when flooding in Kampala has become a recurring reality every single time it rains. There are countless videos, photos, and testimonies across media platforms clearly showing the true situation on the ground. Referring to such content as “AI-generated” risks downplaying the suffering, frustration, and losses people continue to endure. You also urged the public to verify information through your official platforms, but how can people trust that information when you only post what protects your image instead of showing the full reality on the ground? By doing this, you’re misleading the public about how serious the flooding crisis in Kampala really is. While addressing poor waste management and littering is important, the conversation must also include buildings and developments constructed in drainage channels and wetlands, which continue to worsen flooding in the city. We cannot continue focusing on smaller issues while ignoring the larger structural problems at the center of this crisis. We deserve transparency, accountability and long term solutions that address the root causes of flooding not just statements issued after the damage has already been done.
