Hard to look at Preakness Future Wager odds prices on those entered in race and not think it is one of the best wagers in the game. Lots of dead $$$ in that pool. Ocelli is the value of all value paying $686.20 on a $2 wager. Iron Honor at $40.20 shortest price in actual field.

It could work, but the question remains on it...would the horsemen still consider going to the Preakness with Derby Also-Rans if that was the schedule? Or would they still look at other options? I guess one other question that bares asking is: "Are their trainers/owners nowadays looking to train a horse to run in all 3 Classics? Or are they really just concerned with getting a horse to the Derby? Would their training regimen change if the spacing changed? Would their goals?"

It is pretty surprising that no one else from the Derby has jumped into this depleted field at the last second. A bunch of horses sitting on the sidelines could be favored in a $2 million Grade 1, and all their connections are just saying, “No, thanks!”
