@incolnlay @DJPie I think it’s just wanting to be different or smarter than everyone else, or trying to “solve” golf. Which might be more important to him than actually winning golf tournaments.

@Jay_Wilhelm5 @DJPie Exactly. You’re telling me that not a single other professional golfer has gone to this? Not one. Not even Christo Lamprecht who has just as much club head speed and is so tall that it feels like he would benefit from longer wedges?

Here’s a Dechambau hot take: I’m convinced Bryson would be a better player with properly fit, traditional style clubs. I want proof. I want a YouTube video where he gets fit at the Titleist Performance Center, then plays an honest 18 with 2 balls - one with his current clubs, one with his custom fit traditional clubs, to prove that he “needs” these odd clubs, and that they’re actually better. Bring the launch monitor for each shot and explain the numbers. If he needs these clubs and they’re actually better, it should be a simple video.

Unbelievable sequence from Bryson DeChambeau on his 3D printed 5 iron after a 4 over 76 today at the Masters. Reporter: “are you satisfied with the 5?” Bryson: “yeah, I mean, I only hit it once today, so…” Reporter: “how long does it take to make one?” Bryson: “prints in eight hours. Machines, they’re three or four hours. Then you have to cut grooves in it and do a bunch of other stuff. So you can have something within a day and a half. Reporter: “would that be something you would want to do for the weekend?” Bryson: “PFFTTTT 🥴🥴, no? It has to be USGA-conforming. There’s a whole process you have to go through.”

This may cost me any hope of ever getting a credential, so will be deleting this later. But the Masters app has not been great the last couple of years. Player mix-ups, shots missed, holes finished but no shots. Everything is always so perfect with the Masters, that it’s a surprise when something isn’t.

Big golf news — Brian Rolapp just wrapped a meeting with players in which he announced Brooks Koepka is coming back as a "Returning Member." That's a new category defined as a winner of a major or the Players since 2022. Koepka's playing Farmers, he's playing WM Phoenix Open and he's playing at least 15 events this season. Interesting subplot: Under this criteria three other players would be eligible to return: Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith. But the window for them to apply for reinstatement closes Feb. 2. Fascinating move. More to come

Is rough like this too much? I can’t stand when the rough is like this. Friend of mine sent me this yesterday. He played a “bucket list” course and this is what the conditions were. Nothing worse than all day watching entire foursomes shuffling in the rough, a couple steps from the edge of the fairway. Rough like this is fine if it’s a US Open. But setting up a course like this for the rest of us non-world-class golfers is ridiculous. It slows down pace-of-play and makes the day not a lot of fun. If your course has 50+ yard wide fairways, then I am OK with rough like this. But if your fairways are 25-35 yards wide (like they were for my friend), than rough like this is such a bad idea. I’ve talked to a few head pros at courses that have rough like this, and the overwhelming “old school” mentality was that “golf is supposed to be hard”. News flash…. Golf is already incredibly hard without rough tall and thick enough you can barely find the ball much less advance it.

@PardonMyTake Out of all the dumb debates on this show, the empathy debate may have been the dumbest. @Philly_Mays was dead wrong, and @PFTCommenter made no sense. You don’t have to have been through it to have empathy. Had nothing to do with sympathy.

Soly and Ben teamed up at a USGA Four Ball qualifier a few weeks ago. We mic’d them up and captured every shot. Full video on the NLU YouTube channel.

@domcinto_11 Will be an interesting game. Obviously last week was very deflating for us Bengals fans. I’m old enough tho to remember Carson Wentz being in the MVP conversation and dragging a horrible Eagles team to the playoffs in 2019

@NoLayingUp @highnoonsunsips Does this change what tour officials will deem a playable tour course? 400 yards shorter and a better field produced half under par as last week. Less than big ballpark Quail last year. Just imagine if it was firm. Rough wasn’t as long as it could’ve been.

@NoLayingUp @highnoonsunsips Not when done right. And regarding soft/firm…What would you rather watch: harbour town/River Highlands/Sawgrass soft, or Wiss firm? Not close IMO

@NoLayingUp Congrats on 1000 eps guys. Did not know the CPG interview existed, but that was comedy. Might be even funnier that he was immediately concerned and nervous about whether people would think it’s funny.

@NoLayingUp @KVanValkenburg you guys mentioned Bobby Clampett coming out of the booth and led after R1 at Pebble… Modern day comparison is Kisner, no? Would be so shocking but awesome if he somehow was in the mix at a major. NBC would be hamming that up so hard.
