If this was Anto from the flats who committed the same crimes, stole from shops, and injured an 80-year-old man in the process, and then later died after being restrained, there wouldn’t be vigils, or people screaming about ‘human dignity’.
It would be ‘another scumbag dead’ and half the country would move on before the body was cold.
That’s the reality people are sick of pretending doesn’t exist.
Stop rewriting people into innocent saints after the fact. People are acting like this was some harmless man randomly targeted for existing, instead of someone involved in criminal behaviour where an elderly man was injured in the process.
And what about the other elderly man in his 80s who was killed recently by the African bus driver? Where were the vigils for him? There wasn’t the same outrage because selective outrage only appears when it suits.
You can get fucked with that kind of narrative…
