I have never been a fan of Keir Starmer as Prime Minister. Top politicians need to realise it’s not just the message, but how you sell it that cuts through to the public psyche. His policies may well have been among the best for the country and some undoubtedly were but Sir Keir never seemed able to land them with the public. Voters rarely reward policies they don’t emotionally connect with. Yesterday’s reset speech didn’t help. What exactly was he trying to tell us. Now, in what could be the death throes of his tenancy in No 10 after less than two years at the top, I do find myself feeling for him. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps and reached not one but two of the highest offices in the land. So, as the wannabes circle the Cabinet table this morning, positioning for what may come next, spare a thought for a man who genuinely wanted to make a difference, but never quite mastered the art of making his case. Fair?

Starmer says it was an error and he's apologised. Kanye West apologised, people who said stuff on social media after Southport apologised, their apologies werent good enough according to Starmer. Kanye West was refused entry into the UK, many people went to prison for social media posts so why is Starmers apology good enough when in reality what he did was far more serious?

The Shadow Chancellor is wrong. The North Sea is going to shed another ~45,000 jobs by 2035. More drilling will make absolutely no difference to that. This entire pearl-clutching exercise is entirely about serving the fossil fuel industry, not the people of Britain.

🙌 This gives HUGE hope!!! The EU has just greenlit talks with the UK on closer cooperation including electricity. This is a game changer! UK’s biggest vulnerability right now is exposure to global energy markets. When gas prices spike, our bills spike. That feeds straight into inflation, interest rates and growth. Working more closely with Europe means: 👉 better interconnection 👉 more stable supply 👉 less volatility in prices 💪 more resilience. After Brexit, we lost some of that coordination but kept the exposure. This is a step back towards managing it. The question is whether government follows through or keeps trying to make a broken model work to deliver decline and chaos.
