Today, we remember and reflect on the horrific 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. We honour the victims, survivors, and everyone whose lives were changed forever by the atrocities and commit to building a better world where such horrors are never forgotten or repeated.

As we mark Kwibuka, we honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi and reflect on its unspeakable horrors. The United States stands with Rwanda in unity and reconciliation and firmly rejects denial or minimization of the genocide.

On the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, we mourn the victims & pay tribute to the survivors. We must learn from past failures & protect the living — by rejecting hatred, inflammatory rhetoric & incitement to violence.

From 10 Chickens to Better Nutrition: How the Partnership for Resilient and Inclusive Small Livestock Markets (PRISM) Is Changing Lives in @RuhangoDistrict Our first day of the media tour in the Southern Province took us to Gitwa Village in Ruhango District, where families are seeing real change through the Partnership for Resilient and Inclusive Small Livestock Markets (PRISM). One of the voices from the community was Esther Mukamurigo, a member of the Twuzuzanye Cyunyu Group, which has 30 members. She shared how life was before the project. She explained that meeting basic needs was very difficult, and many families struggled every day. Things began to change when PRISM supported the group. Each member received 10 chickens. Esther started raising her chickens carefully and began collecting eggs. The first time she collected eggs, she had 500 eggs, which she used to grow her poultry project. From there, she expanded to 100 chicks, and the income she earned reached 250,000 RWF. Today, her poultry farm has grown to 600 chicks, and she has also managed to buy six goats. For her family, this growth has brought stability and new hope. Esther also highlighted that PRISM did not only provide chickens. The project trained them in poultry farming and management, and introduced them to new ways of producing animal feed, such as azolla farming and hydroponic fodder technology. These skills helped farmers reduce the cost of feeding their animals and improve productivity. As incomes increased, families were also able to improve what they eat at home. Eggs and other foods are now more available, and cases of malnutrition in the community have reduced. Esther expressed deep gratitude for the support they received and shared her ambition for the future. She hopes to continue growing her poultry business and aims to reach 25,000 chickens in the coming years. #PrismImpact
